On the radar you can see the outflow on that storm. Fascinating.
Severe Warning cancelled. Flood advisory issued, this is mainly for Edmond.
Got up at 3 AM to put a brisket on the smoker for my son's bday dinner tonight, got completely soaked trying to get a tent out of plastic to cover the smoker up. It was literally raining sideways for awhile.
It is doubtful, but this complex in SW KS may try and make a run by morning.
Mostly wishful thinking on my part.
Shower and storm complex in N Central OK and a smaller one just NW of the OKC metro.
These will likely flare up and die down throughout the day, random organization.
More scattered showers around. Probably same as yesterday with pulse severe and then they'll fade this evening.
Quick radar grab. Severe cluster out west. Also seeing a bunch of collapsing showers in Southern and Eastern OK that could bring a little wind for those near them. Still hoping for a shower or storm to pop up over head to help break some of this heat.
Update on summer:
All models are pretty much latching onto a retrograde low next week, starting as early as Sunday evening.
What does this mean? Good rains and temperatures in the low 80s. This is basically as close as you can get to a tropical system parking over us, without one actually doing such.
You mean I'm actually going to have to start talking weather again? So much for my vacation until September.
Many up north will be welcoming this. Many areas in Ohio, Ind, Michigan, and others have been having rain for a good part of the last month. Anything to let them dry out a bit will be welcome.
CU starting out west and also some East. As we continue to near the convective temp for the day should see storms start to fire in the next 2 hours.
I don't know if it was an outflow boundary associated with those storms to the east of OKC last night but a friend and I were getting ready to ride around Lake Hefner around 8:15pm and there was no wind whatsoever and then all of a sudden, BAM! Wind out of the east gusting like nothing I had ever ridden in.
5 day projected moisture:
Retrograde lows are fascinating. This one could dump some major moisture and cause flooding problems wherever it decides to park.
Hope it settles in just like that. I'll get good rain at my home here and refill my pond at Ardmore.
More moisture for West Nile...YAY!!!
2+" storm total rainfall in July? Oookay.
Highs tomorrow look like they won't get out of the 70s. Wonderful day, with the rain and storms, to just leave the windows open and enjoy the fresh air.
Trying to put off mowing til tomorrow morning...When do they expect the rain to kick in?
Tomorrow morning
Something else that is interesting. We have a weak low developing in the Gulf just off the Florida PH coast. NAM is probably most aggressive in developing it out of the short term models and it makes landfall tomorrow evening near Mobile. The movement of the low would be the WNW and will take it back up over into AR. If it can hold together and move into OK, that could further enhance rainfall potential here as we go beyond Tuesday.
Low probability of the low doing anything, but just throwing it out there that there might be an additional curve ball in this.
With the high parked over the Eastern US, this is setup we normally need to feed landfall tropical systems our way.
Ardmore Weather is a good local source for what weather is doing at Ardmore.
Rain starting to move into the state. Light rain currently over parts of NE and East Central OK. Moving this way.
