Watching the storm and wondering how it will go is most of the fun, anyway.

They, too adjusted their forecast for what looked like heavier snow over the I-44 corridor. But the original advisories they put in place were spot on (minus the WSWarning for the metro).

The lesson here...when the models show the same damn thing for 3 days, and your gut agrees with it, don't stray. LOL

I admit I got a little worked up to pull this thing farther south when I should have stood my ground. Ah well. I just miss snow. :-P

Wind in Minco just peaked at 45 mph and steady at 37 mph. It is crazy how even the wind hasn't transitioned east at all yet. Give us something.

I'm right there with you venture. We didn't do too bad the last couple weeks!

ARRGH! Bummed. Nothing wrong with being disappointed. I'll be happy if I awake to my grass covered but this had so much more potential. Then again... there were models that showed EXACTLY this happening. Exactly. The storm was NOT a bust though. It was actually historic. I'm still bummed out though. It's weird. The track was perfect! Cold air close by to be pulled in. I wonder if we in OKC would've fared better if the storm had moved faster? The NWS did say that there was high bust potential on the SE sides of the presumed impacted area but this morning you could tell that they trusted the basic reasoning of what they were seeing with their own eyes. Crazy. The media mets in this market never shun the overdone praise that is usually offered to them so I don't really care whether or not they feel some scorn when they don't "get it right"... they're only human... just doing their jobs. But it really is awful and kinda also awesome when a group of THE BEST mets in the world in Norman(and let's be honest... our media mets... the tenured ones are pretty great too) give all they have to satisfy the people and their pursuit of their craft... do a great job... pretty much nail the forecast two days out... but risk disappointing the population center because they can't have a "life-threatening" storm sneak up on the population center..... and to have their own eyes and logic tell them that it's safe to sound the alarm only to have it all dismissed by a flap of an invisible butterfly's wing is... well... that's what happens when your job is part scientist... part carnival fortune teller. So close. But... it was always gonna do what it was gonna do and it did it bizzig! Just not IMBY. S-O-C-L-O-S-E. Or was it never close because it didn't happen? The most cruel trick... getting all of the other numbers right and missing the powerball by one digit. So close. :-) My wife REALLY wanted a snow day. She's pissed. Bwa ha ha ha ha ha! She's also 5 months pregnant so... maybe she's glad it didn't snow. I can't tell anymore.

P.S. Venture and Anon did a great job with this system though. They really nailed it a couple days back. Appreciate your hard work and expertise Venture. :-) Was fun watching this rage in and limp out.

    One word - ratings.

Myself included. I checked news 9 on my phone before i got out of bed, watched news 9 at the gym, i had it streaming on my pc at work, i checked it on satellite at work, i checked it on my phone, i talked with dozens of people at work who also checked it, my wife checked it all day long, her parents checked it, we changed plans with people who also checked it, i checked it when i got home, i watched it on my computer, ....if you think about it hundreds of thousands of people checking it all day long all over the metro.

    For this.

Fear is the single largest motivator in the world and there is a lot of money to be made off of it.

True. But with that said, Blizzard conditions were only 50 miles away. So people are going to check anyway. Even if a weatherman said "I am 100 percent sure it will only rain here" People would still check often because of the close proximity of the storm and just in case that weatherman was wrong. And that weatherman has been "wrong" at some point in his or her career.

I agree with this to an extent. Obviously ratings and money played a role... in their presentation and mediums and graphics and makeup artistry and programming intrusion(but let's be real... it gets better ratings not because of fear... it gets great ratings because it's reality TV and it's more exciting than The Bold and the Beautiful and Family Feud... IMO) Ratings even impacts the introverted praise that they heap onto each other etc. All the talk of life saving and such... really sounds like a O jerk sometimes... BUT... bottom line is their actions had nothing to do with the outcome. I'm 30. I've mostly been over being disappointed with people for a while now. Because like you stated... that feeling starts with looking in the mirror. I'm disappointed that Chaos Theory is alive and well... and that it didn't give me the 5/6 inches of snow that I wanted. :-) I dig it though. They're over the top at times. They play off of each other. They duel. (I'm sure Mike doesn't like seeing commercials with Gary England as the centerpiece of the team he helped to mold and create a public profile for) I'm sure Mike knew what they were saying was unfolding in the OKC area. He said the opposite. Not 10 days ago he said we'd get 6+ when everybody else said trace or nothing at all. He trended perpendicular to his theme today. I like him though. He's my favorite OKC media met. Always has been. Sure... KWTV was saying the same thing the NWS was saying but... that's not material. The general public doesn't judge the NWS... they judge the media. I'm not upset with either entity. I'm still a tiny bit bummed that my hot cocoa I sip tonight won't feel quite as special while it's burning my tongue. :-) I dig you though. I understand what you're saying bro. Peace. :-)

With the amount of economic damage that a major snow storm would cause I would hardly call not getting a major snow a bust for OKC.

We did however put a bit of a dent in our drought. Aside from some bruised ego’s it’s very much a net positive for OKC.
The good folks of NW Oklahoma would not call this a bust storm either!

To add insult to the whole thing, it is now actually accumulating to the EAST of the okc metro, that narrow band of heavy to moderate snow is pretty stationary.

I drew this showing where I estimate measurable snowfall fell today or will fall tonight:

OKC shield hardly ceases to prevail.

I can only guess that it will mostly evaporate and drain off.

I told everybody yesterday that I doubt there will be any snow and I was right! Maybe I should be a weather man!

What is worse? The weathermen over hyping it and it ends up being nothing? The weathermen not saying anything and telling people it will be nothing and we end up with a 25'' blizzard? (Well to be politically correct, I probably should've said weatherpeople)

BTW Me myself, I prefer option two, because I like being surprised! I don't think the average "commuter" would agree with me though.

This storm is so done because I went to koco.com and the live wire isn't up and running--either that or I just completely missed the link.

Also, 925 posts and if recall right, over 120 viewers at once. . Is that a record breaker for a weather thread on here?

Yes, that's exactly what you need to do. I just have a feeling that that's your calling.
