SW OK main snow band that was sitting from Chickasha to Duncan is weakening pretty fast now. Still a decent amount of snow up in NW OK, but mostly light to moderate snow. Central sections still has a good amount of moisture being flung back over up, with the heaviest over Cleveland County right now.
To me right now it seems wrap around is really getting choked by more dry air being pulled in and the storm system moving a bit faster to the ENE. Could still see some spurts of heavy snow here and then, but I wouldn't be shocked if one area of the Metro area has 6 inches and another has absolutely nothing. Pretty much what has been advertised for the last few days with the very tight gradient.
This can always change, but for a storm was that taking its sweet time to move all day finally decided to pick up speed once the cold air was able to spread in.
If you thought that was an outrageous--or even outrage us or even egregious--comment . . . you should have seen the insane bs that the local weather channels were spewing . . . i mean broadcasting in the name of the fear altering drugs that sponsor them. It was a hoot. A short hoot, yet a hoot nonetheless . . . now back to Wheel of Fortune . . .=)
I am pissed! Who can I take this out on? lol. . . Seriously though, it is disappointing, but weather isn't supposed to predictable. Esp. storms like this. At the very least, there are some really happy snow lovers in Woodward and the precip. we had put a huge dent in the drought. I'm pretty sure these "hacks" as they have been called, aren't very happy about this either. I could tell that Michael Armstrong was getting excited over this storm by his FB status updates and I don't think he was sitting behind his computer going bwahahahahaha I'm going to tell these people we're having a blizzard when they knew nothing was going to happen. We'll get a blizzard eventually. The 2009 blizzard was not normal for this area and I don't think we had blizzard like that here since the 90's. Correct me if I wrong on that, though. . .
BTW The night's still young (right Venture?) lol
Gary is still going with we'll get some snow. I'm so torn about this, I feel emotionally confused. quit playing with my heart you weather jerks!
I'm still hoping for school to be cancelled
Transitioned to light rain / sleet from light rain / snow in west Midwest City a few minutes ago. I am thankful for the water.
It's done. As soon as that deformation zone in SW OK collapsed that was it. It was holding on strong all day and started to show hope it would hold on. However, as these storms love to do once the low starts moving the western edge (especially down here) loves to fall apart very fast. Instead of a gradual west to East movement.
I wouldn't be shocked if this band firming up from Chandler to Pink to Slaughterville becomes the new dominant precip band for the next couple of hours or so. Essentially hopping right over the central sections of the Metro area.
Mike Morgan used the old "like I said all day 1-3 in the metro"...Saying will just be some slush around in the morning as its just too warm
I have to give some props to the NWS for getting their first winter event this year, correct. [for the most part]
They, too adjusted their forecast for what looked like heavier snow over the I-44 corridor. But the original advisories they put in place were spot on (minus the WSWarning for the metro).
NWS 1 - OKCTalk 2
I will be more than happy to go to work tomorrow, run rehearsals, and know that at the end of the school year, I don't have to tack on days to make up for the snow.
With contest next week, and a concert planned as a warm-up for tomorrow night, I'm quite happy that this turned out this way.
I do love a good snow, but I prefer it on a weekend, and I like it to melt quickly
Still corrupting young minds
Our hopes and dreams for heavy work busting snows have been dashed. Oh well, when's the next storm slated for. I watched this thing all day and thought it was just a matter of time before all of us in the city would be hunkered down. But NO! What a bummer.
