With the changing trends on how local viewership content is changing and the affiliate model versus direct to consumer streaming, it is also hard to predict the future worth of these over the air signals. Do KWTV or KOTV get any cut of an OKC or Tulsa IP address streaming Paramount Plus (CBS Programming)?
In 1975, these signals were much more valuable as they were just a half dozen signals you could get with your TV in OKC/Tulsa with rabbit ears. Griffin had exclusivity of CBS programming in Tulsa and OKC.
In 2025, you can get this content in so many more ways that have become common in culture from the smart phone to your Fire Stick, Roku, or Apple TV through an app.
In 2025, you can also create content as an individual that can rival that of the local affiliate. There are plenty of storm chasers and off-air meteorologist that have access to similar radars and data that live stream to decent audiences on Facebook and YouTube.
