Thread: 2 New JCPenneys in Metro Area: What next?

  1. Default 2 New JCPenneys in Metro Area: What next?

With the 2 new JCPenney's being planned for both Moore and Midwest City, I am curious what everyone thinks will happen or wants to happen with other JCPenney's in the city in addition to other effects that might occur.

I personally think this is the nail in the coffin for JC Penney at Crossroads, and possibly for the mall in general. If JCPenney were to open another store in the NW Expressway corridor, I think that could provide Penn Square Mall the opportunity to score a more upscale store to fit in with the ever changing mall. Those are my thoughts. What are yours?

Penn could still kick out JCP and go for upscale. With two entering the market (regardless of which side of town they are in), the overall OKC market for JCP should still remain profitable with the loss and upgrade to Nordstrom perhaps of Penn.

I dont think just because the new JCP isnt on NW xpressway has a bearing. It could be, you only need JCP at Quail to support the rather affluent North OKC market. It could also be, that OKC people drive around so much, that they'd do so if they really want to shop at JCP.

I dunno, but I can tell you that this should not stop PSq from removing JCP and upgrading with a Nordies or Neiman.

Personally, I'd rather see the upscale downtown (not in Bricktown) and I think with OKC becoming truly major league - they really need to address the retail issue downtown.

Look for some serious changes to downtown OKC that will make it a 24 hour venue now that OKC will have a permanent team there.
    Oklahoma City, the RENAISSANCE CITY!

I haven't shopped at JCPenney's since 1982, actually probably never, I was only about 3 or so back then.
