    Cool Virtualization

Has anyone here had any experience with VMWare or MS' new Virtualization Server?

If not, now's a good time to check it out. Both VMWare and MS have made their competing virtualization tool available for free.

    MS Virtualization Server 2005 (R2):

    VMWare Server:

I'm a little partial to VMWare, but I haven't been exposed to MS' version for very long.

I am building a server this summer, so I will definitely check it out. The server will be running Windows Server 2003 (the 180 day version) so I can familiarize myself with networking in a Server 2003 environment. Once the trial is up, I will switch to Linux for my server OS, as I cannot afford a $500 license for Windows Server OS. I'd like to try Ms Virtualization Server.
    Continue the Renaissance!!!

The cool thing is that both will run on XP (although, only MS' is "officially" supported.) You can have a virtual linux desktop or server running on your XP machine! Its great for testing stuff on different releases.

I had a 90 day trial of MS Virtual PC and had a Linux machine set up on it in no time at all and had no problems. Worked great..of course, you can't have too much underlying horsepower and memory . I haven't looked at the new Virtualization Server yet....
