Free Cancer Screening
I know this is an odd subject but it might save someone's life....
Free Home Screening for Colorectal Cancer
St. Anthony Hospital is partnering with the national Colorectal Cancer Alliance (CCA) offer free home screening tests for colon cancer during the month of March in recognition of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.
The test, referred to as the fecal occult blood test, is self-administered in the comfort of your own home. The procedure is simple and quick: a small disposable tester is dropped into the commode to detect any abnormality in the stool. If an abnormal reading results, you can consult with your primary physician or contact St. Anthony Hospital to be referred to a specialist.
Current research suggests that there is a 90% survival rate when colorectal cancer is diagnosed in its early stages. But many people have Colorectal cancer and don't realize it.
The Colorectal Cancer Alliance, Voices of Oklahoma Chapter, estimates that 146,940 Americans will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer this year, and 56,730 Americans will die from the disease within the year.
The Colorectal Cancer Alliance, Voices of Oklahoma Chapter has over 27,000 members within the organization, including cancer survivors and caregivers, and provides invaluable insight and reinforcement in patient support, education and research.
