    Large Chain Bojangles

Bojangles is coming to the market; filed plans for a new stand-alone store at 13135 N. Penn, in front of Dick's and immediately south of Del Taco.

There was the previously announced deal for them to be located in some Love's in the state, but that fell through for some reason.

I was just thinking that this area needed to add another Chicken spot considering it lost a chicken spot. Haha!

Finally? I've been getting them at Carl's Jr for decades.

I will admit that having had one at a Bojangles in Texas recently. Bojangles is the better of the two.

Can't find 'em on the Carl's Jr menu. Country fried steak biscuits were a breakfast staple at fast food stores, markets and deli's in the southeast. Hardee's had honed the biscuit sandwich game to an art form. when Hardee's and Carl's Jr merged they absolutely mangled what each excelled at, particulary breakfast. I've not darkened their door since. I'd consider a steak biscuit from the drive through if i knew they had them.

They are definitely available if you can still find a Carl's Jr, not many left, and they still refer to it as Serving Hardee's Breakfast.

Up until I tried Bojangle's I still considered Carl's Jr/Hardees biscuits to be the best fast food biscuit available.

Curious. Hardee's web site offers Couyntry Fried Steak Biscuit, Carl's Jr. site does not. Hence, my presumption that steak biscuits were not available in the metro. Did some digging. The following from Wikipedia may explain this rather poorly.

Merger with Carl's Jr. and aftermath
In April 1997, CKE Restaurants Holdings, Inc., the parent company of Carl's Jr., bought Hardee's from Imasco for $327 million. The merger created a chain of 3,828 restaurants – 3,152 Hardee's outlets in 40 states and 10 foreign countries and 676 Carl's Jr. outlets primarily in California.[19] Initially, the plan was for the larger Hardee's chain to completely rebrand as Carl's Jr but continue to offer Hardee's existing breakfast menu branded as "Hardee's breakfast" (due to Hardee's stronger sales during breakfast hours, unusual among fast food chains), and even ran a test by rebranding Hardee's locations in the Peoria, Illinois and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma markets as Carl's Jr. However, by 1999 CKE instead rebranded Hardee's into the Carl's Jr. imaging including the Happy Star logo and parts of its lunch menu but kept the Hardee's name and left the breakfast menu intact, though the Oklahoma City locations kept the Carl's Jr. branding permanently.[20]

Thanks for the heads up. There's a Carl's Jr. at NW 23rd and Broadway.

Hardee's biscuits were the best. It slowly got worse under Carl's Jr until they are no better than Mcdonald's. what a shame. There is one in El Reno not far from my mom's place and I keep trying it and it's just not good. I'm probably honestly done with them.

There is also one South Memorial, on McCarthur or Rockwell. They are getting scarce, which is too bad. They are one of the most consistent fast-food restaurants.

Carl's Jr on NW 39th and Portland. Hardly ever any cars there. We never eat there. There used to be one on NW 23rd and MacArthur that closed and is now a dentist office, There was a Hardees in Bethany on 39th st years ago that i don't remember if it changed to Carls Jr when they merged or if it just closed and didn't change brands. Too long ago. I sure miss Hardees.

    There are 7 Carl's Jr. locations left in the metro: Norman (24th W & Robinson), Moore (S 19th & Telephone), Del City (Sooner & I-40), S 89th & Western, N 23rd & I-235, N 39th & Portland, MacArthur & Memorial. Looks like the El Reno location closed recently.

The Carl's Jr in Ardmore rivals Whataburger for breakfast business. Cars are usually wrapped around the building waiting.

Lunch/Dinner, on the other hand, is the exact opposite for the Carl's Jr here. Never see very many people there after breakfast.

Sorry we turned the Bojangles thread into the Hardee’s/Carl’s Jr. thread. But, I went to the NW 23rd and Broadway Carl’s this morning. They did indeed have steak biscuits. The biscuit was wonderful. The country fried steak inside is merely a shadow of what I recall getting in East Tennessee. Quite bland and fried to an unpleasant (acrid?) dark brown and the breading was super hard and brittle (like tooth endangering). On the bright side, cinnamon raisin biscuits are back for a limited time.

I've noticed the fried steak can be hit or miss depending on location.

To get us back on track.... I'm in Texas this weekend. I'll grab a steak biscuit from the Bojangle's location here in Wylie and enjoy it for all of you missing out.

The current Carl's biscuits are a pale shadow of the Hardee's version. Hardee's also had a sourdough breakfast sandwich that rocked the world, but the current Carl's version is bleah. When they made them on-site maybe 20 (more?) years ago, McDonalds biscuits were really good, but they're a generic chewy mess now.

Hope Bojangles builds out my direction eventually.

Because of certain reasons I've been wanting to try Bojangles for years, so this is a neat thread to see.
