Thread: Mama Lety

    Default Mama Lety

I have no idea how long this restaurant has been around, but we had been hearing good things about it and finally tried it this weekend. All in all, we were extremely pleased, and although it's a bit of a drive (they are at 122nd & I-35), it will go in our rotation.

The house salsa and queso were very good. My wife said the spicy salsa was only "so-so". We split an order of beef fajitas, which were excellent, and purchased an al pastor and quesabirria taco from the alacarte menu. The pastor was as good as any I've eaten, and I have very high standards for pastor! The birria taco was also very good, but I don't have a lot of experience with that style.

I'm abstaining right now, so I can't comment on the margaritas.

The first thing I noticed when we approached the front door, was the smell. It reminded me of 6th grade when my best friend, who was from Mexico, invited me to his house every evening to eat. That's a good sign!!

my parents live fairly close by so this is our go to when my family meets them for dinner .. (several times a month )

it is very very good and IMHO the quesa birria tacos are among the very best in the entire metro ..

also the owner and staff is always very very friendly

We have friends who love it, but we have yet to make it. Definitely on our list to try. Good info.

Visited the other week. Overall I prefer the place over birreria diaz for birria tacos, but diaz did step their game up. I'm off to try another place I was recommended sometime later, los 4 carnales.
