Thread: Eskridge Honda - Building New Dealership

  1. #1

South OKC Eskridge Honda - Building New Dealership

It would appear after being at I-240 between Douglas and Western for years, Eskridge Honda has filed a permit for a new dealership at SW89th and I-35. My guess is somewhere in vicinity to Bob Moore Ford.

Yea it’s practically built. They built some kind of structured parking garage to store vehicles. Click image for larger version.

When I was at Eskridge last month, they said it was delayed because Honda changed the design.

That is good news since I-240 is a little far

The place has been under construction for *at least* a year. Maybe more.

They actually just filed a revised building permit yesterday (2/1/23). Hopefully this means construction will resume.

I remember when they had Eskridge Oldsmobile. They've been around a long time.

More information on this newer style of dealership from Honda, I think Eskridge Honda will be the first of this type in the state, or at least the metro, looks like the change in design is in response to what changed during the past few years with Covid, chip shortages, and emphasis on EV vehicles in addition to gasoline and hybrids:

Bob Howard, Fowler, Battison, and the current Eskridge Honda all feature the big cylinder style entrance with the Honda "H" above.

I've been wondering what this was going to be. It looks like a tiny parking garage.

They are taking their dang sweet time on this one. I dont recall ever seeing a dealership built half a parking garage into their structure either. It seems like a pretty high expense for a dealership????

^^^ that’s actually pretty common in larger cities.

Not only does it make better use of a smaller property, but it also provides protection for cars.

More and more dealerships are building large structures to protect from hail.

This was the trend across many of the big-name Dallas dealerships. I am surprised, given the new approach to new car inventory, that they would build one of these now, post-pandemic.

By the time you add new, used, service and employee vehicles, I'm guessing they have around 500 cars on site.
