I happened to run across this video on YouTube about the future of cities. It's an interesting watch. There's a lot of good points made about what cities are doing wrong and what they could do better on topics of water, housing, transportation, and technology. There's also a little bit of romanticization of impoverished cities that I didn't find persuasive. Nevertheless, it's a good watch.
It gets me thinking about how little OKC is actually doing on the innovation front. For example, instead shifting away from huge highways and street meant to serve cars to development for people, we are over-building parking garages and throwing up major new anti-pedestrian roads (OKC Blvd). It's kind of depressing that these lessons have been learned other places, but some cities are still behind.
Anyway, check out the video and let us know what you think.
