Thread: 815 Robert S Kerr

Arts District / Film Row 815 Robert S Kerr

We talked about this about a year ago when this building sold to a Norman investor who told me he wanted to demolish for a parking lot.

The Downtown Design Review Committee approved the demolition last year, then later approved the surface parking lot.

Took these photos today, as the demolition is well underway.

Building was in decent condition before the demolition. 38,000 square feet built in 1929.

It's directly north of the county jail.

Can someone with a lot of time put together the rough number of estimate of new parking spaces coming online or proposed for the downtown area of OKC.

Don't forget things like the convention center, this parking lot, the new parking lot where the old municipal court is, the new one in the Plaza district... would be interesting to compare the number of parking spaces in OKC vs. its peer cities.

My understanding is that the new parking lot going in where the old municipal court is located will be a private lot for the city. If this is true, then this parking really is needed for the public that has business with the court. Everyone used to park at the lot where the new building is going.

Great, another surface parking lot near the OKC Civic Center. .....
    Oklahoma City, the RENAISSANCE CITY!

This seems like a move they'll regret just as soon as the jail isn't downtown any longer. Could have had a nice redevelopment opportunity.
