Have you tried contacting the cellular telephone companies in the city (like Cingular)? You probably already have, but if not its worth a try. When I worked there we hired a lot of ex-military with comms experience (for cell-site techs, etc.).

I have applications in with every major telecommunications company, inside and outside of OKC. The problem is that everytime i get a call back from a Cellular company, they are looking to hire me in a call center, I am a techinician, not a call center person.

I understand. Those positions are ususally few and far-between to begin with (at least at Cingular).

They are few and far between everywhere though I appreciate the input and invite more.

The problem with my field is that the jobs pay well, and are with good companies, but finding an opening is hard.

I have had two offers, but one was in Cavalier ND, and the school system there could not support the needs of my children, the other was a 1 year contact with no guarantee of continuing employment taking me to Iraq. I got out of the Air Force to be with my family more.

Have you posted online to all of the major job sites ie. Monster.com? Joblink etc... ?

I lived in Silicon Valley my entire life and granted, you most likely could find a job there but you won't be able to afford a million dollar shack.

I'm thinking, if you just get a foot in the door at a satellite company (in any capacity) you might be able to fill the first available desired position when the time comes. Many times, they fill openings from the inside. Good luck.... I'll keep my eyes and ears open.

All of the postings are appreciated, and I am active on Monster, Careerbuilder, Hotjobs and OKChelpwanted

I have previously applied for all of the above positions that I am qualified for. However my scope does not fit that of an IT specialist or Help Desk Tech. I am more of the person who operates the actual satellite dishes and associated communications equipment.

Well just an update. I have come and gone at Bob Howard Honda. I resigned because of the unethical practices of the dealership and being outed about 600 dollars in my first month.

Today I go to my new job, working computer repair for Best Buy's Geek Squad
