Thread: Testing 911 service for VOIP-based phones?

  1. #1

Default Testing 911 service for VOIP-based phones?

I have a VOIP-based "land line" with my provider supporting e911 service. Does anyone know if there's a way to contact OKC emergency services and arrange to make something on the order of a "test" 911 call to verify the information relayed by my provider is being sent correctly? I guess I could just make a "cold" 911 call as a test but I hate to waste their time doing so....

We cold call 911 ask if it's a good time and have them verify our information when we do our testing.

Great info. I just don't want to get in hot water for calling 911 without an actual emergency even though it is a legitimate purpose for contacting them, eg verifying 911 info.

You wont get in trouble. There are other parts of the country that have restrictions on calling into 911 for testing but not Oklahoma. Just make sure you ask if it is a good time. Ive only had one time they told me it was not a good time.

It never occurred to me that it there could be consequences. I've called and started out by saying its a non emergency and wanting to verify the address.
