There has been lots of discussion about authentic street tacos but what about the crispy variety?
I liked the Fuzzy's version but they didn't knock my socks off.
Would love to find some delicious alternatives.

May not be your cup of tea, but I am partial to Taco Cabana's crispy beef tacos. They are slightly greasy, however, and many may not enjoy this But it is very flavorful. There seems to be only one location left in the metro, which is slightly depressing. I-40 and McArthur is the last location. They still seem to be thriving well all over Texas. Even though it's fast food, I find myself enjoying TC more than most of our sit-down Tex-Mex joints.
Thanks for the tip on Tacoville! I worked in one of the worst areas of L.A. for several years so no neighborhood in OKC is going to scare me off.
I know Torchy's is coming to town and that sounds like it will be another great option.
Not exactly traditional, but the tacos at The Pump are ridiculously good.

Tacoville, is more of a convenient store turned taco joint... The meat and the sauce are addicting... It's another place I've been eating for over 30 years.. The sanchos and burritos are huge and surprisingly enough they have one of the best coney dogs around also. On any given day you may be surrounded by lawyers and judges or bikers and mechanics. The women that serve everything up are an institution themselves, most have been there as long as I've been going.
I don't go to Ted's often, and tend to get soft tacos vs. crispy most places.... but Ted's crispy tacos with shredded beef are excellent.
Mid Del Taco is pretty decent{not great}but Tacoville is probably a notch better. There is also a place on S Western, Tony Tacos that is pretty good.
Taco Casa in Norman is the best fast food typeI have found, they seem to use better meat and cheese than all the other places
The first Torchy's will be in Norman but I'm sure they will expand into OKC as well.
I'm surprised this thread didn't get hijacked to talk about torchy's
Tacoville is legit. So is los taco, which is nearly identical. They're both saltine crackers. If I'm going south side it's tacos San Pedro's, that's the real deal. I'm praying for a full fledged torchy's in OKC. But the Pump's tacos, while unconventional, and of the pinned variety, are crazy good.
^^^^^^^
Thanks for the backup on The Pump. Those tacos have become my go-to when I'm there.
Thanks for the tip on the Pump. I don't care about authentic, I just want good.
I'll definitely give them a try.
TSP is the reason I haven't been to Tacoville in over 15 years!!! When the owner sees me in the restaurant, she often has the cooks send me out a little extra item...on the house. It's a tortilla with some kind of special cheese melted inside with green pepper....it's delicious!!!
Have you tried the little taco truck at SW 44th & May? It's just as good as TSP and even more consistent in quality.
Does TSP have crispy tacos?

I agree it's good , but Tacoville for me is a institution, the sauce could make concrete edible and the meat recipe is somewhat fast food style ,but extremely flavorful and became something I crave... 95% of the menu involves the meat in some fashion or another. I almost forgot about taco burgers...... How longs it been since you had a taco burger,lol..
TSP has a pretty good size menu and selection of different items, it's a 2 times a month stop for me.
