Preferably any recommendations on the NW side?

Sadly, this type of practice hasn't really made its way to mainstream in the OKC Metro area. In my research, I've only found two:

Mustang: Mustang Animal Health Clinic » Holistic Medicine

There's another who has offices in Shawnee and South OKC near 1-240. Best Friends Animal Clinic - Home

I don't know anything about either of them other than what they say about themselves. I've not found any on the NW side, and we live close to Edmond so I have definitely looked.

Oddly, you might try looking at a GNC. They have gotten into pet products, lately. That, along with online advice, and you might become your own holistic vet.

Be very careful in choosing a holistic vet and consider getting one that also has a practice where they consult on traditional veterinary care. I am a fan of some things holistic but took my almost two year old girl to a local vet with strong holistic leanings. The vet completely missed an immune problem attacking her eyes, instead convinced it was everything from allergies to an insect bite to her food. Very, very, very, very long and expensive (think 20,000), miserable time for her, later, she is blind at age 5. By the time we gave up on this vet it was too late, despite two eye specialists, an internist and the OSU veterinary hospital. The harsh medication she has been on to try to save her sight made her miserable and to this day, she takes 9 rounds of drops, daily and is on over 100 a month medication. I took our girl in four times the first week telling him she needed help and he was oblivious to anything other than what he expected to see. Had he promptly put her in prednisone and antibiotics (and done a proper eye exam - he skipped that part despite repeated visits) things likely would have gone better. He insisted on hearing horse hoof beats when the evidence suggested zebras. Our girl has suffered miserably (it was very painful and made her so sick) for years because this guy was stuck on allergies and treating it holistically. At five, she has a long time to live stone cold blind. I feel like he stole her puppyhood from her. I literally wouldn't send my dog to that guy.

    Thanks for all the answers......
Our approx. 8 yr old back cocker has just been diagnosed with liver cancer and according to the oncologist at OSU his only options as far as traditional meds go are prednisone and a oral chemopherapy which has about a 50% chance of helping. He started the prednisone today and is happy and eating which for now is enough.

I saw this just the other day when I picked up a copy of Natural Awakenings at the library. I used my Doxie (so small - love it!) and scanned the ad.
I know nothing about this guy - at all. It just rang bells when I read your post.

I hope he does well. If you need an internist, you can't do better than Dr. Holland in north OKC. She handles chemo treatment and is wonderful. This is tough on you, I'm sure.

Wow, I missed this post of yours when I posted the about the Natural Vet. I'm sorry to hear you're dealing with such a tough diagnosis. Hang in there and give the little guy a love pat from us here.

The associate professor of oncology at OSU vet school said due to the type and locale of the cancer that surgery isn't an option and there is basically only 1 chemo treatment available whose success rate with this type of liver cancer has been less then impressive. Other then that there is prednisone and alternative/holistic meds.
