Sad to say, I forgot it was earth day. I saw this post from Disney
and was reminded.
Take a minute to admire our planet for it is the only reason we are here.

For years this was the only day I drank coffee out of a Styrofoam cup and
stomped it into the ground. If I couldn't do that I'd buy a candy bar and
throw the wrapper out of the window.
Normally I would never think of polluting. In fact I can't stand it.
As a "Student Activist"--just before the first Earth Day--I "synergized" with my peers and others to organize and plan the very first celebration of the "holiday" before it even happened.
Many years later, I still don't litter.
And I'm happy for the Earth.
(in fact, for me, every day is sort of an "Earth Day" . . . =)
Tomorrow I'm going to stomp a Styrofoam cup into the ground. Then
I'm going to start my lawn mower and let it run until it's out of fuel. It's
a 2 cycle that burns oil. I filled it up on Monday.
I'm soooo against the "the earth is dying" mentality.
At any rate, something far, far more important happened here.

Take a Bic Lighter, set fire to the stomped Styrofoam cup, and stomp on it again.
It leaves a better Carbon Footprint. Except it sticks to the sole of your shoe that was made in China.
Where they don't even begin to think of stuff like that.
(I can't figure out why They think it's better to compact tree leaves into plastic bags for big trucks to haul to landfills rather than simply burning them. the leaves. the burning of the leaves almost certainly leaves less of a carbon footprint than the rest of The Protocol . . . doesn't it?)
I've got a Bic lighter in my truck, a huge Suburban with a honkin' V8!
The shoes I'm wearing were made prior to 1999 and were made in the
USA. Seriously. I remember the fashion change of 2002 and am
waiting for the fashion change of 2015. If my shoes wear out then I'll
change. If not I'll await the fashion change of 2035. I don't like rushing
into fashion. That's why I wear red T-shirts and blue jeans. Midge the
Wonder Dog has never favored fashion of any kind and still looks
incredible.
