Nice!!!
got mine in today's presale. tix are $60, 103, 143 (incldng fees). sounds like it may be a half-house setup.
also got mine yesterday. very happy i won't have to drive to tulsa this time.
A band like this would never gain popularity in todays music.
Short in the looks department but long in the musical talent dept..
received the band's newsletter over the weekend and found they're doing three ok shows - peake, brady and winstar. last time (or two?) they did brady and winstar. REALLY glad to see them add an okc show. they have a great backing band. i'd like to see them change up the set list more when compared to the last two shows, but anything they play is good.
Ah, man. About 15 years too late for me.
Though the band has a musical history that I still celebrate. All of their recordings from about 1974 on were supported by bands that were comprised almost entirely of talented studio players that often were names in their own right, or yet to be. To read the liner notes on one of their remastered reissue CDs, they didn't look back after gradually hiring musicians to supplement them.
You guys may (or may not) appreciate this.

granted it was limited seating, they sold a good number of tickets to last nights show. was glad to see that and am hoping they'll come back to the peake so i won't have to drive to tulsa. anyway, great show. was glad to see them play black cow this time. i was hoping they'd change up the setlist more but still worth it as they put on a top notch performance.
2600 Tickets sold to last nights show
Interestingly that is very close to the same capacity as Brady Theater in Tulsa, where they play tomorrow night.
I was lucky enough to see the show from 4th row center last night (or dumb enough to pay $122/ticket - haven't decided which) and it was fantastic. It was, however, somehow an even whiter event than the Senior U.S. Open round I attended last week. Lots of really, REALLY terrible dancing by people who were obviously up way past their bedtimes. The crowd comedy factor was rich. File under: Stuff White People Like.
the band sounded great last night. even after all the years, donald ***en's voice sounded really good. i guess that's what happens when you don't abuse your voice touring for 40+ years... and having 3 great backup singers doesn't hurt.
first time they've played deacon blues on this tour. nice mix of popular and deep cuts, too.
our tix were at the back of the lower level, but upgraded ourselves to the bottom of the section right next to the stage - great view of the terrible dancers urbanized mentioned ;–)
It was all:
Did they have the petition outside for legalizing Marijuana? an easy 2600 signatures
They did indeed. But I think most of the people at that show gave up the demon weed years ago in favor of a Lexus.
Oh my gosh! The dancing was so funny. Friendly reminder, no pointing while dancing unless you are John Travolta.
I swear I thought that one lady was Wanda Jackson. Was hoping she would get up and sing with them. They certainly were having a great time and you can't knock that.
Great show, love to go to concerts where I feel like the youngster in the crowd. Nice to see you Urb.
Steely Dan ranks right behind Jethro Tull, Enya, Spinal Tap and The Talking Heads as one of my favorite bands.
They go up to 12. =)
Yet, seriously . . . Trout Fishing in America remains Number One. =)
ps: although I had no overwhelming desire to attend their most recent concert in whatever venue I'm happy I have every single CD Steely Dan ever made, plus the DVD recording of the making of one of their recordings.
they are truly talented originals. even now. imho
btw: Donald ***in has a cousin who once lived in Wa****a.
(I only added the btw to show how far political "Cor*ectness" has intruded into our daily lives. =)
When Steely Dan shows up at a venue--other than a cold day in hell, the Zoo is full of mud and excuses or the Casino are all closed--that's The Day I will see them in live performance. =) Yet . . . all these years later . . . I can still enjoy their early works on scratchy record machines . . .
So . . . Is The Brady preferable to The Cains?
I'm attempting to recalibrate quality control . . .
(out here in the mid-pacific in the vicinity of Pitcarian or Eastern Island . . . =)
They're both cool historic venues. cains remodeled to add adequate restrooms. The Brady, it's a bit of a challenge along with getting a beer.
One big difference between Cain's and Brady - Cain's is SRO, Brady has seats.
Geez . . . For just a moment there I thought I was caught in a time-warp/entertainment venue vortex from here to Minnesota. Geez.
And it wasn't the most comfortable Journey ever . . . by golly.
Shee-it . . . I'd be happy t' settle fer . . . Linda Ronstandt and Taj Mahal at Tulagi's.
Or even Any Authentic Artist at . . . that shack over there, next to the local college.
The one with the Blue Door or whatever . . . =)
Some writer once wrote a book he called: When Worlds Collide.
I think it should be required reading, even if the writer of the book remembered
was possibly Russian?
Edited to Add . . .
In the name of non-conflict . . . =)
. . . and to restore emotional balance . . . =)
