This is a great little bar/restaurant that sometimes has live music.

Ate here last week. The gumbo was outstanding.

Was once home to Ruby's Grill/Dance Hall. Basie played there. So did James Brown. Also, there was a cathouse in the basement...

It looks like Food Network's Restaurant Impossible will be filming here on January 28th & 29th. They are apparently looking for volunteers.

I have heard Urban Roots is not doing that well. Hopefully this will help...

I checked out the link but there was no mention of Urban Roots. How do you know?

I work for Sysco Oklahoma and Urban Roots is one of our customers. Chef Robert Irvine (host of Restaurant Impossible) is contracted by Sysco and we were notified by Sysco Corporate.

Unfortunately I did not receive a VIP seat for the filming

Seems like a quality source to me.

Oklahoma Gazette Food & Drink: Food Network headed to local eatery

I will say from experience watching the show, I probably wouldn't eat there until after its over. They usually don't go to places that have clean kitchens. Best of luck to them

I don't watch that show, but if it is anything like Hotel Impossible or Bar Rescue, that is probably sound advice.

Not all of his "rescues" are due to a dirty kitchen. Sometimes it's simply bad management that had nothing to do with the kitchen.

Not saying it has to do with kitchens. It starts with management, which trickles down to kitchens not being up to par. Ive seen almost every show of his and the overwhelming majority are in poor condition.

And I agree Sid, food is very subjective. But to have everything he samples be tasteless and bland is a little dramatic.

I've seen one show where he tasted everything and said that he found no problems with the food. Sure, it surprised me, but just because Robert Irvine is coming here doesn't foretell that he will declare Urban Roots' kitchen dirty or food bland.

Not sure what items have changed or been removed/added. And no, I was not there unfortunately. I caught this image on the Deep Deuce District FB page.

    Wow! The renovation was amazing!

I checked yelp and they have 4.5/5 stars. I guess business is booming!

I will definitely have to try it out.
