Thread: Drivers license testing

    Default Drivers license testing

Anybody have any experience on the best time to arrive by for the over the road test in Norman? Apparently office policy prohibits the employees there from giving out this info. Thanks in advance.

Jersey, it's been over 4 years since my youngest was licensed. But if it's still as nuts as it used to be when they were on at the E Lindsey location ... go early. no, earlier than that. With each of my three, we showed up a bit more than two hours before the place was scheduled to open just to beat the line. I don't recall any of my children every being #1 - #3 in line. I think one of them did make #4 in line. Craziest setup in the world back then. No clue if it is better now.

Just had a thought. Might check with someone we both know who have youth somewhat younger than mine. LMA and AC come to mind of the top of my head.

The OKC office is a madhouse. I see folks lining up in the wee hours of the morning.

Don't driving schools have the ability to set appointments for the OKDPS road test and thus avoid the wait? Thought it worked that way for No. 1 Son.....

Not sure. We never sent any of our three through the formal Dr. Ed. programs. I didn't hear much of anything about the private sector classes that ever made me want to write a check so someone else could spend time with my kiddos. Work kept me away enough that sharing teaching shifts with my lovely made more sense. Our children started receiving family instruction, in appropriate settings, at a young age, just as my brothers and I received with our relatives back in the day (I like to think theirs involved a tad less hollering and a tad more patience ... but I am not entirely not sure they'd fully sign off on that.)

Not trying to turn this thread into an advertisement, just different strokes for different folks I guess - Junior Loblaw got the homegrown driving lessons from Daddy Loblaw for sure and all the accompanying hollering, occasional holy craps!, frequent I cant believe you just did thats!, more than a few what were you thinkings? and a lot of Oh My Gods! - but we also did the driving school thing as well - and, to keep it on topic, the driving school picked up Junior at school on the day of his road test, took him to OKDPS at a specific time, no wait in-and-out lickety split, after passing took him to the tag agent to get the Holy Grail of Teenage Freedom and then back to school - worked out very well (did I mention the lack of waiting at OKDPS?) and got our $$$'s worth IMO

I hear ya., But ya know, that standing around at dark thirty and shooting the breeze with the kiddo for a while weren't all that bad ... kinda nice even. Well, nice once the kiddo de jure was as awake as I was. Mine were definitely not morning peeps, but then, I wasn't at that age either except for the outdoor band season.
