    Chuck was the coach at OU during the latter part of my years there. He never really gave fans the warm fuzzys and, in fact, was under a lot of fire for part of his tenure. I always had respect for him though and thought he was a good hire for OU. Sad to hear of his passing.

    Yeah, he was low key. But his teams with Bobby Warmack were pretty darn good. Didn't he also make the Switzer hire as OC?
    Edit.....no, no, that was Jim Mckenzie that hired Barry and then McKenzie suddenly died and Fairbanks became head coach. Long time ago!

    Switzer and Fairbanks were both hired by McKenzie but Fairbanks made Switzer the offensive coordinator.
