I live here in El Reno, I was born and raised here and trust me, the structure of the schools here are extremely outdated and crying for renovations. El Reno rejected the last bond issue because many of the residents thought they were trying to compete with Yukon. But this is a very exciting time for our community : )
It's not as good as deal as the first bond issue, which would have built a completely new high school near Redlands CC but its better than nothing.
It does seem to be a bit of a patchwork deal. It will provide a little money to renovate the 100+ year old existing high school and then will build a new science and math building across the street. It does at least close two old elementary schools and will build a brand new one next to the middle school.
El Reno is adding tons of new jobs from schlumberger, Chesapeake and others now and in immediate future so it's only wise to invest in their schools right now.
