Tonight is the first bowl game of any particular interest to me. Baylor is pounding UCLA at halftime 35 - 10 and has the Big 12 off to a great start. I expected Baylor to win but not like this. Art Briles has done an amazing job there.

The Big 12 is now 2 - 0 with Tech's not so impressive win over Minnesota 34 - 31. Given the turmoil their program is in I'm sure they're happy though.
Two more Big 12 games so far today. West Virginia stunk it up while losing to Syracuse. Maybe we should ship them back to the Big East. LOL.
Texas played from behind most of the game and came back to beat a decent Oregon State team. Not a bad win overall for a Texas team that has underachieved all year.
We still have TCU playing a late game tonight.
I am stinking it up on the Pick'em competition. I'm never picking ranked teams against unranked again. LOL
I did pick TCU against MSU, so hopefully they hold on.
Well there goes TCU. Pfft.
TCU was only a shadow of what they have been for the last few years. Even at that, they should have won their bowl game against a mediocre MSU team after dominating on defense for much of the game.
The Chick-Fil-A Bowl was one of the most entertaining so far this year with Clemson kicking a field goal as time expires to beat LSU 25-24.
OSU's game was very predictable. The Cowboys were much better than the bowl they ended up in and Purdue had no business being in any bowl.
And I was hoping OSU would actually run up the score to make a statement against stupid bowl match ups. The announcers and officials were shockingly inept for that game..clearly the night shift.
Ok, can't say I expected Florida laying an egg against Louisville like they did. If Louisville had been able to capitalize more, the game would have been a total blowout.
I also expected Florida to win but I thought they were vastly overrated at number 3 in the country. That makes two SEC top 10 teams to lay an egg in a bowl. If Bama wins they will still claim vast superiorty over everone else though. LOL
Louisville just embarrassed Florida. Except for the late game garbage time touchdowns, this game wasn't even close for Florida.
Perhaps. I don't think it'll be the last time we see a MAC team break into the big bowls. Which makes me happy because they play a lot of fun to watch football. I do miss the years when they were just QB production machines. BGSU would be putting up ridiculous QB performers year after year.
Anyway. KSU falls tonight, which I expected. Still warms my heart to see Bill Snyder out there.
I am glad Kansas State lost, I hate them
Sooners better win tonight!
BCS has really destroyed the bowls for me. The forced matchups are just awful, primarily because the motivations going in are so screwed up, eg bring in the non-AQ underdog, or the one-off just-missed-the-title-game entry against some other conference with nothing of substance at stake.
FSU-NIU? FSU was asleep most of the first half and darned near got themselves into a ballgame, then woke up and dispatched the Huskies. EJ Manuel still has one of the most awkward throwing motions I've seen this side of Vince Young, but he got the W, which I guess is all that matters. FSU in a can't-win situation, very much like OU was against Boise.
Louisville-Florida? This is the game OU should have been in, and Florida's creaky and rather pedestrian offense would have been a great matchup against OU's defense - much better than the matchup against A&M. And I think the OU offense, once settled in, would have had a great chance to light up the Fla defense. Louisville showed up. Not sure UF did.
Oregon-KSU? Decent game, but the botched KSU FG following the false start (and why on earth the LT jumped escapes me, as everyone had to know the ball wasn't about to be snapped) that turned into a quick UO touchdown pretty much put a lid on that ballgame. UO just had too much speed, and disrupted the KSU offense. Getting Klein into a mode where he threw three straight passes is doom for that offense, and watching UO run tempo against the KSU defense made me want to pull my hair out after remembering how OU played them, but that's water under the bridge. UO's freshman QB is going to be someone to watch the next few years, dangit. Has tremendous field presence for a freshman.
The Rose Bowl was a pretty decent game...will grant that one. Looked like a blowout early on, and I can't help thinking Stanford lost some of that initial intensity once they went up 14-0, and that turned it into a ballgame.
As for the Sooners tonight, who knows? Will Manziel suffer from Heismanitis after a month of press adulation and publicity tours? Or will he go in 100% focused and ready? Its a given that a dual-threat QB gives OU fits, and this A&M defense is good, but not great, so all the ingredients are present for a shootout. If Manziel goes in at least a little starry-eyed, maybe OU can bait him into some bad throws, get some turnovers. I like OU against the Aggie defense - will be the best overall corps of receivers A&M has seen all year. Should be an interesting game, but I fear another 42-35 kind of score, which I'm hating more and more each week.
A tortured stat going back how many years to give the Pac-12 that edge? Before the Pac-12 was even the Pac-12? Back when USC was issuing free housing like FSU shoe vouchers? Not even remotely a meaningful statistic. I'll grant that saying Big XII>Pac XII is debatable, but that's a ridiculously poor stat to use as proof.
