First Official BCS Poll of 2012

Even though all but one computer have been reporting for weeks, we got the first official BCS poll this week. The great news...the Big 12 has he most teams ranked in the Top 25 with 7 - SEC has 6. The one big notable is the Big Ten...an AQ conference. They have ZERO in the Top 25 with their highest ranked team being #28 Michigan. Granted OSU is doing good this season, but for doing the things they did, they are banned from the post season this year and are excluded from the BCS. How much noise should be made if an unranked Big Ten team goes to the Rose Bowl over a team in the Top 10 or 15? Looks like it could very well happen this year.

For OU it is better that they are ranked, regardless of how much hate for the rival there is. :-P

I'd have Florida at 1 and Bama at 4 or 5, ahead of Oregon but behind ND and K-State, just by strength of schedule. But the human elements have Bama up higher so they'll keep that spot.

Overall, I think polls always get released too early, it'd be better to wait until the end of the season, before the title games rounds, to truly assess the teams. Of course, I'd rid the thing of the humans entirely, but that's another matter.

Yeah I agree. Too much of the pre-season bias goes in to keep teams inflated in the polls.
