Thread: Join the Search for QR codes...

  1. Cool Join the Search for QR codes...

Don't know just what a QR code is? It is a small piece of code that can be found on just about everything from Pepsi cans to watermelons. If you have a smart phone and the app, you can take a picture of the QR code and it will direct you to information that can be found online. The information can be a web page, web site or general information like just where that watermelon came from.

The object of this search is easy - just find the codes in use around OKC and the surrounding areas, take a picture of it and then post to Go Mobile Local Webs Facebook page. Be sure to tell where you found the code.

While doing a search at Google Trends I found that Oklahoma is way behind most of the country in mobile searches. WHY? Just because not enough people are talking about mobile or they just did not realize what is mobile. Did you know that if you vote on American Idol you are using mobile text messaging, which is a form of mobile advertising.

And this is not a sales ad, this is a Hands On Learning Lesson about seeing mobile all around you.

Remember the old cuecat - it was supposed to become as popular as a mouse. I had two of them.

don't remember that scary thing, sorry. But I think with mobile devices QR codes are going to be hear for a while. The younger people are ready to use their smart phones for more than just talk or even texting. Here is a video that shows a QR code can
    draw a crowd: http://www.state.ie/news/26019-lupe-...-qr-laser-show

Thank you for the invite to the community meeting.

As for the QR codes I think the joining of the mobile, web and codes mean that we are going to be seeing a lot of them, at least for the next five years. While American is not as "cool" as Japan where they have been incorporated into daily life for around 20 years, I still think that younger people want this type of interaction. No need to type in words or numbers, just point - click - read. will be featuring QR codes and the real estate market on my blog this week at Go Mobile Local Webs.
