Some roofing work is taking place this week at the old Marco's #3 location at NW 16th & Classen.
Anybody know anything about this?

Same thing was happening at the north Rockwell location on Monday. The folks inside were the same that have been there since they opened that location so I assume it's just updgrading or maybe hail damage. I heard that Rockwell area got hit pretty hard (we lived in the apartments at 122nd and Rockwell until we bought a house a year ago....I'm glad we were gone when the hail hit).
Marcos #3 is/was not affiliated with the San Marcos restaurants.

Oh, sorry!! I thought he was abbreviating for "San Marcos". LOL
No problem. Just clarifying.

Not to mention Marcos #3 has been closed for years now, that is why the poster brought it up, that they are doing roof work on a vacant building. Maybe they did get insurance money, but would love to see something new go in there. Wish Braum's would clean up it's act next door.
What is the story on this vacant building?
It's not for sale or for lease. It could be a very significant point of entrance for the Plaza District but instead it is just another eyesore.
It's definitely an odd building, but I would love to see it renovated. I remember a restaurant there called Triples maybe? It was definitely open when we moved here.
yep... that spot was once triples. and earlier, herman's seafood if i remember right. -M
Someone brought up the idea of razing it and putting a food truck court there. I really, really like that idea...
I don't think you would have to raze the building to do that. That parking lot is huge. But that is a great idea especially as a gateway into the Plaza District.
Who owns it and why does it sit empty?
This is such a major high traffic area in an up and coming section of Okc.
The property is still owned by the same family that bought it in 2003 for Marco's.
They only paid $235K and it's 1.1 acres at a prime location.
