Thread: Edmond Population

  1. Default Edmond Population

so, i deliver to post offices and i was up at 1 of the edmond posts and got a conversation going with a supervisor there; he told me according to the numbers they have that there are 120,000 ppl in edmond. i cant believe this. maybe 90,000. what do you all think?

Perhaps they are including university students?

  3. Default Re: Edmond Population

That's probably in all the area the Edmond post offices deliver to. I live in Oklahoma City, but have an Edmond zip code and my mail is delivered from an Edmond post office. So the 120,000 figure probably includes a lot of the area north of Quail Springs.

  4. Default Re: Edmond Population

The population of Edmond in 2005 was 74,933.

    Edmond . Population in July 2008: 79,559

I believe the population of Edmond for 2009 was 81599

I would think all the above numbers are ESTIMATED populations - though they sound right. No way in the world Edmond is at 120,000. If anything, I would think Edmond's growth has slowed in the last few years as it has itself become congested and people are moving farther out.

Also, new growth in Edmond typically appeals to a smaller niche market that is relatively high-income compared to the more middle-class growth in Moore and other burbs.

So maybe Edmond has lots of rural routes to deliver to. Stillwater has 10 of them. Maybe Edmond has considerably more.

    no, he's right, 120,000.

I know it for a fact since they ALL use Broadway at the same time as me every weekday morning.

No way there's 120,000. It's like guessing the amount of pennies in a jar It's always way more than it looks! 120,000 would be a helluva increase considering it's jumped roughly 2,000 every year...

Agree...that's probably how many live in the Edmond zip codes or Edmond School District but not the actual city limits. The are tons of people in Gaillardia, Mullholland, The Grove, Rose Creek, and several other (mostly upscale) neighborhoods that think they live Edmond but are actually in OKC.

Someone told me a good way to figure it out is if your address is at least or greater than 13600 or your street name is "136th.." or greater you live in OKC. This would be true since Memorial Road is number 136th in OKC's grid.

  13. Default Re: Edmond Population

    From www.census.gov - 2006 estimate: 76,644
