  1. Default Pac-man

It's the 30th year anniversary and Google.com is doing something VERY SPECIAL and FUN with the main page logo.

Go check it out and play at Google today only! Use the arrow keys.

Insert two coins and you can play two-player co-op as Ms. Pac-Man (WASD keys).

    Good stuff.

    From Joystiq:

A playable ... logo? That's exactly what web giant Google has today, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Pac-Man's Japanese release. The doodle (Google's term for its event and holiday-specific logos) is accessible on its main page and is a full 255-level game complete with a 256th level "kill screen," just like the original coin-op.

The interactive doodle -- a first for Google -- is the brainchild of senior user experience designer Marcin Wichary, whose earliest exposure to Pac-Man came at age five while traveling across his native Poland with his father, a game technician, to repair arcade machines. Wichary worked with Google doodler (yes, it's a real job) Ryan Germick to create the finished design.

So, for today at least, you can tell your boss: "I may be browsing the web and playing a game, but I'm also being part of something historic."

Ask Nintendo. In the meantime, check out Super Mario Bros. Crossover if you haven't already.

Back on topic, though. Apparently the Google Pac-Man game had this poor woman so befuddled that she had to put in a call to customer support:

bah! I dont buy the validity of audio pranks. They are almost always staged. Even some pranks that feature video are staged, but not all of them. At least with video you can make a better judgment if the prank is staged or not.

    "pranks"

As someone who's had to give my mother a detailed guide to window-minimizing, I can tell you, this is the real deal. This woman sounds exactly like my mom.

Because I like Pac-Man, my mom has to understand Pac-Man? What?

What I'm saying is, this woman's complete confusion when it comes to a very basic task that we all do everyday is very reminiscent of conversations I've had with my mother about similarly easy computer functions, and that's how I know it's not a put-on.

For example: The homepage on my mom's browser is Bing. I've seen her type "Google" into Bing, and then go to Google through Bing's search results, and then start searching things through Google. Drives me crazy, but what am I gonna do? It's easier just to let it go than to try and "correct" the behavior. This is a woman, very smart when it comes to everything else in life, but if you asked her what the "address bar" is, would probably open up a phone book to look for the location of the nearest Henry Hudson's. So yeah, I can totally believe that this Google Pac-Man woman thing is completely legit.

Haven't you guys ever had to deal with anyone who was a complete retard when it comes to computers?
