Default Looking for: kid friendly restaurant

Every sunday I have a lunch date with my Dad. Occasionally my four year old is a little too rambunctious to go to a sit down restaurant. I like the McDonald's playground, but don't care too much for their food (or I don't care to feed it to my son very often.) Chic-fil-A is closed on Sundays. We go to the park sometimes, but it's not good for windy and rainy days.

So, does anyone know of any other kid friendly restaurants in the okc metro area.

Our 10 month old loves going out with us. We tend to pick loud restaurants, so that if he gets excited it wont disturb others. Spaghetti Warehouse is his favorite. He also LOVES the fire show at Mushashis. Western Sizzlin is always an easy choice, especially if there is a chance he will be cranky.

Ok, first off, wanna note that's just awesome and a half!

Have general opinion that any BK's with a play area tops McD on food and play.

CiCi's is cheap, almost impossible to not have something a tyke will eat, and it is not unusual to see gramp types playing with the halflings there. Ok, it is not high end, but it is edible. I suspect your dad dates are more about the visit anyhows.

Golden Corral is nearly the same, although a notch up on the $ scale and no real decent play area. Kids can make own desserts though.

I-Hops are mostly for teens in my opinions but they have a decent kiddo menu.
Use the Bricktown one and stroll canal if weather good, pop over to sit by the big fish tank at Bass Pro if weather is so-so.

Really, any place that wants kids, rather than barely accepts kiddos, will work. Just keep in mind that like at home, most laddies are precision wired for open throttle movement, not to idle quietly at a stuck on red stoplight for extended periods.

Just came back from dinner at Santa Fe in MWC. Much fun for all, including the baby. Nice and loud in there, plenty of kids, and what kid doesnt like the hunks of fluffy rolls. Best of all, they have a 2 for 13.99 deal that is really good.

The Wedge pizzaria just behind Bricktown in the Deep Deuce area! The food is magnificent, and I noticed a play area outside by the patio while dining al fresco the other day. A father and his children looked to be playing bocce ball. It looked like fun. I highly recommend the Wedge.

Thank you all for the ideas.

We have been going to buffets a lot because it's easy for each person to get what they want, and I can get him a variety of foods. Our biggest problem now is that he doesn't really want to sit still. I do not like it when kids run around unattended but I want him to still be able to have fun.

We have been to Ihop a few times, but all the four year old will eat is the make a face pancake.

Chuck-E-cheese and incredible pizza are good once in awhile, but I am not sure Dad would care to do that.

The wedge Pizzaria sounds like a good idea; I think we will try that.

I didn't even know we had a Red Robin and I also thought all Santa Fe's closed down. The BK by our house only has arcade games and no playground. I'll have to google where some others are for a change in scenery.

    Thanks again for the help!

If you like fish and seafood type stuff, the Joe's crab shack on I-240 and Penn has an outdoor play area fenced off area with gravel and climbing things/slide etc. They have an outdoor seating area with picnic tables or you can sit inside and watch them play

Although they wouldn't be unwelcome, I'd hardly call The Wedge (especially the Deep Deuce location) a family friendly place.

Good unusual reco Charlie, the Joes Crab Shack on NW Expressway has the same thing, only it also has a lake so it has a nice view.

    Agreed.

Mazzio buffets are usually good for the kiddos.

Totally beg to differ! Every time we've been there before 7, there have been at least 2 or 3 families there, kids appear to be having a great time. The staff are extremely friendly to families. All kids love pizza. Might be pricey if you are going just for the kids (because all kids love any pizza), but a date night for parents with the kids tagging along sounds perfect for Wedge. Maybe you're thinking of after 9 or something?

I see alot of families at Saturn Grill too. Kids always appear to like the food.

When our nieces and nephews are in town we always take them to Souper Salad - they love buffets but we like to at least have a healthy option.

make sure whereever you go that if they have some sort of playground or active play area for the kiddos, that you bring plenty of disinfectant wipes. kids like to: cough, sneeze, wipe boogers, track dirt, spit, loogey, and any other way possible spread germs onto any surface they can find.

you dont see those pits filled with all the plastic multi-colored balls around anymore these days for this very reason. i heard some time ago that somewhere, some toddler slid down a slide into the plastic balls pit and lost their dirty diaper in those balls. needless to say, the lazy parents were finally forced to change their kids diaper at that point.

Don't get me wrong, I am not recommending that the people that let their kids run around at the front of Spaghetti Warehouse come to the Wedge while I am trying to have a nice leisurely meal there. But OP seems like a sophisticated enough person. And I was there just the other day and witnessed a family with a couple of young boys sitting and enjoying the delights and comforts of the Wedge. And I was enjoying it all right there next to them. This is what brought the Wedge to mind. I saw it work out quite nicely, in person.

If you sit outside at the Wedge on Western, kids can play in the bocce area. I've seen kids having a lot of fun there while their parents got to enjoy a nice meal at an adjacent table.

Restaurants are too packed & busy on a Sunday to take notice to a kid who can't sit still.
Plus, what kid sits still period in a public place in Oklahoma?
    None

I wish they told that to the church crowd before they came and were served.
