    "Bachelorette' finale includes Oklahoman

    From Staff Reports

John Paul Merritt of Oklahoma City is one of the two remaining men on "The Bachelorette," which will conclude its third season at 7 p.m. Feb. 28 on ABC.
Bachelorette Jen will have to decide between Merritt, 25, an entrepreneur who graduated from Bishop McGuinness High School, and Jerry Ferris, 29, an art gallery director from Los Angeles.

For the first time, there are two proposals on the special two-hour finale of the reality dating show. Following the show, Schefft appears in public for the first time with the man who captured her heart on "The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose" at 9 p.m. on ABC. "

I watched the last few minutes of the final last night. She ripped Jerry's heart out. She more or less threw it on the floor, did a song and dance on top of it and then handed it back to him like she was little miss innocent.

This goes to show you that many women are not worth the trouble.

She is lucky I wasn't there on that couch next to her. I would have made lead story of every media outlet in the free world.

I would have told her what a cold hearted _______, ________, _________ etc, etc, etc. she was. I would have made sure she left that stage in tears. Sure I might have made an ass out my self on national tv but, she would have been put in her place.

If your looking for true love make them work hard for your love. Its the only way to know that is true love.

    Nice guys finish dead last.

The interesting thing was that she did this to both of the final guys: both Jerry and John Paul! With Jerry it was far worse though, because she led him on, making him think that she was going to accept his proposal.

Obviously, the girl isn't ever going to be happy with anyone...she basis her love too much on feelings, which will never last in the end. For a marriage to work, it has to be based on substance, not on feelings and good sex.

I have to admit I didn't know how this show was going because I work 2nd shift, however after reading here that an Oklahoma guy was in the last two I taped last nights show. I kinda wasn't surprised to see her tell JP no because of the postings here about what he is up to in real-time. However, I didn't expect her to make Jerry hang on so long and still tell him no! That was pretty cruel, despite her saying she didn't want to hurt him or that he felt the same way about them being friends. He didn't seem too surprised because they have talked and apparently spent some time together since the proposal. I don't know maybe it was shock that had him behaving gentlemanly.
I would have to agree with Patrick she's thinking too hard about it all. Sure she's been hurt before, but hey....raise your hand if you haven't been.

Of course, parts of it were probably staged as well. Seems like they had pretty much agreed before the show that they just wanted to be friends. That's the jist I got anyways. Obviously, for television purposes, she had to reveal her final decision to the American public. I tend to wonder if he alreadyknew theoutcome though, the way he responded.

I guess she does have to go with her heart. It's better than ending up in a divorce later. Still, seems like if she wasn't up to it, she wouldn't have gone on the show.

I was so proud the way Oklahoma was portrayed. JP was classy, smart and his family didn't live in a trailer park or have a working oil rig on their back patio. :-) For some reason, the media always chooses the most outrageous characters to interview regarding OK. At least that is my opinion.

You're thinking about the classic trailer park tornado coverage, aren't you?

Exactly - They don't show the intelligent, educated, nice, gracious people of OK. They seem to pick the one person with overalls on perpetrating the image of a hillbilly. It drives me crazy!

Yeah, and it always seems like they find the ones that talk like a hick, with that Oklahoma twang.

John Paul was a classy guy......quite the entrepreneur. I'll be interested in visiting his restaurant when it opens soon.

I think in the future Jen will back on this show and wish she had have said yes to one of them. She reminds me of a lot of people I know. They spend to much time searching for the perfect person with the perfect situation.

So, who do you think Jen should have chosen? JP or Jerry?

  15. Default Re: Bachelorette' finale includes Oklahoman

I thought JP was the best choice... I felt so bad for him and also for Jerry - sheesh, how many does she need to choose from? Giving her credit though, I guess reality shows would be hard to be honest and intimate... it's all theater really...
