What is typical dutch fare?
The Dutch love their bread, pastries, and cheese. They particularly like almond flavoring in many of their pastries. (The link is just a pic I took in October in Amsterdam...)
As for heartier fare, pea soup is a standard poor-man's food. Street food is often pickled herring, french fries (w/ mayo), and kroketten. Kroketten are breaded, deep fried sticks of sausage or chicken (or other things), often with a sausage gravy in the meat.
Other typical fare is the pancake - not like ours, but big, crepe-looking pancakes, often with ham and/or cheese on top.

I found a couple bars in Dallas and Fort Worth that were Dutch, but the websites I had bookmarked are no longer working... Hope they didn't go out of business.
Here are a few locations.

The best Dutch food is a desert called Stroopwafel. They are basically little waffle cookies. It's hard to explain. You can buy them pre-packaged, but the best ones are home made and loaded with sugar, cinnamon, and raisins. Usually they are served cooled. Wonderful with coffee.
Mmm Stroopwafels are so good! You can buy packages of them at Oma's Pantry.
