Why does edmond not have a movie theatre?

is it me or does edmond seem to have everything but a new free stasnding stadium seat movie theatre like everyone else. Norman/Moore area just got a brand new warren theatre a few years back and that place is awesome and super busy all the time. Yukon/Mustang area also just recently also got a brand new stadium seat movie theatre complex. Midwest city/Del City just recently announced they are in talk with amc about getting a 16 screen state of the art stadium complex off sooner rd. Where in the hell is Edmonds big time new movie theatre? I know we have a cheapy old school movie thatre next to interurban, but really come on people lol. I mean we all have to go to amc quail for a decent experience and its not very far, but sometimes dont you guys wish their was one around the corner and we didnt have to fight the memorial traffic to get to quail. Not to mention quail is somewhat going downhill, with all those hoodlum kids running around at night. I recently spoke to a lady in the edmond chamber of commerce, and she laughed and told me "thats what we been wondering for years is why we dont have a new theatre here in edmond". I mean norman,moore,del city,midwest city,mustang, and yukon all got theres, so wheres edmonds?

Maybe the theater developers long ago bought into some hype that every home in Edmond come with a 3 screen home theater addition and they figured, why bother?

What happened to the Cinemark theater or whatever that was there on Bryant and Danforth in the shopping center just to the east of Sequoyah Middle School?! Forgive me, but I don't frequent this part of Edmond, even though I grew up in the same square mile...

I guess if you are going to refer to areas as Moore/Norman and Yukon/Mustang the you would have to say Edmond/OKC-Quail Springs. Most business along Memorial call themselves Edmond anyway. The new Ford dealership that moved from Edmond still calls itself Reynolds Ford of Edmond even though it's not in Edmond its in OKC.

Since when did Del City/MWC announced a plan for one? Off of Sooner Rd and....what? Which side? Since when did both cities work together for a movie theater? Where is the news on this? Link? I see nothing at all. So.... If this is true, the movie theater is obviously going to only one city.... Del City or MWC. Which side of Sooner Rd?

MWC used to have 2 movie theatres right next to each other, 1 at heritage Park Mall, and one in a strip mall right next to it!55k in MWC and 25k in DC and Tinker!all that pop base to draw from and NO movies?just like Edmond-2nd largest Metro city and no movie theatre?

Its simple - the same reason why Edmond doesn't have a lot of things - the developers know Edmondites will drive to Penn & Memorial, which they do, in droves.

Ummm....most of Edmond is in Oklahoma county.

That's why I like our Edmond "80's" style theater. I feel very comfortable in dropping the kids off with friends to see a movie and picking them up afterwords. You also don't have to walk a mile and deal with shopping mall crowds to see a movie. I prefer seeing a movie at Kickingbird Square.

I rarely go to movies, but when I do, I go to tinseltown. That place became a ghost town after AMC opened - but it is very easy to get in and you don't have to deal with all the teeny boppers. In fact, I like the reclining seats at Tinsel Town better anyway.

Broken Arrow deals with the same issues of retail leakage. The proximity to Tulsa has hurt their efforts for retail. Only recently did BA get a Target and is just now getting a Cinemark 12. This will be an upgrade from the old Cinemark 8.

So could you tell me then since there are apparently so many, how many stabbings there have teen there? I am not sure I've heard of any...maybe one. Before AMC opened, Tinseltown was where all the AMC traffic went...only last a few months though, as I recall.

I can recall hearing about maybe 2 or 3 since it opened, if even that many. I love Tinseltown. Gotta keep the wife happy.
