Thread: Best Coney in OKC

    Default Best Coney in OKC

Being from Tulsa it was always easy to single out the coney island in downtown or brookside for the best coneys, but what does okc offer in the way of good coneys ?

I like the old school feel of Coney Island downtown and in Capitol Hill. Although my favorite is Coit's for three reasons. A. Schwab's franks, still made in the City. B. Schwab's brick chili adds a new level of greasy decadence to the experience. C. Coit's root beer rocks.

Yeah those nathan hot dogs are pretty awesome.

I'm not looking to wade into debate over who has "a good" (much less the "best") coney, but as your question refers to your Tulsa coney experience, I would recommend you try Top Dawg in Norman. I believe the owner is actually from Tulsa, and I've spoken to him before about the absence in the OKC area of the Coney Islander-type coneys. Top Dawg's are pretty darn close, which I think is his intent. Some folks complain about the small dogs, buns, etc, but if you are looking for the Tulsa coney Top Dawg is about as close as you can get.

I agree with Coits and Tim's Drive-in. I like the coney with slaw at Sid's Diner in Yukon. I am not as big of fan of Nathan's Hot Dogs as some. I have never been to the Coney Island downtown or in Capital Hill. I admit, I like a Sonic foot long occasionally. Coney dogs are good.

I've had some good dogs, but I had a Coney at a thunder game that blew my mind last month.

Was it the foot long with a Schwab wiener? I had one and it was good. It was something like $7.00 though which does not surprise me at the Ford Center.

Oh man, I kinda miss Coney Island downtown....we went there so much when I worked down there. It's dirty as hell but they've got great dogs.

Never heard of Tim's....gonna have to try that sometime.

Had me some Coney Island Downtown last week. Good stuff. Agree with Tim's and Coits.

I have to agree with you, word for word, but let me add Iggy's in Edmond to the mix. It doesn't get much press, but they have some awesome dogs, especially their Chicago-style dog.

But to match the Tulsa Coney-Islander experience one has to stay with the Coney in Capitol Hill. Definitely. Coney, 3-way, etc., they are pretty much a match. (IMHO) :-)

well if the "experts" have it their way, the hotdog is going to be redesigned soon. It's been all over the media today.

My current favorite is the Chicago Dog at Prohibition Room. It's excellent!

I wouldn't call it "dirty," so much as dingy with age. It's got old-school style.

Saw that. You'd think people would learn how to use a knife.

Complete with roaches and everything! haha...yeah I know, what restaurant doesn't have them.

In all honesty tho, you're right. It does have a different feel to it than most places. When I walk in there, I imagine I'm in NY...even though I've never been.

Coit's is my favorite. I've been meaning to try Coney Island, but it just doesn't come to mind around lunchtime for some reason.

I have been in there many a time (work very near by) and have yet to see a roach.
