Fifteen candidates will vie for Oklahoma City Council positions in spring elections.
Filing for five city council seats ended Monday.

Four candidates filed Monday. David M. Puente, 52, filed for the Ward 3 seat. Christine Harris Byrd, 60, Reginald C. Mitchell, 53, and Will Osei Bandele, 60, filed for Ward 7.

Ward 1 Councilman Gary Marrs is the only unopposed candidate.

    Other candidates include:

    Ward 3 -- Larry McAtee, 67.

    Ward 4 -- Pete White, 66, Louise Elkins-Alexander, 55, and Carl D. Sullivan, 68.

Ward 7 -- Willa Johnson, 65, Lenardo Smith, 49, and Barry Gardner, 55.

    Ward 8 -- Lou Barlow, 39, Patrick J. Ryan, 66, and Eric Roberts, 42.

An election for all five wards is March 1, with a runoff April 5, if needed.

For those who live in the following wards, I urge you to vote for the following people:

    Ward 3: David Puente
Ward 4: Our very own man... (Drum roll, please) Carl Sullivan
    Ward 7: Reginald C. Mitchell
    Ward 8: Lou Barlow

Our current city council needs new blood, and we need these people to see if they can get some big things done for our future.

He's a regular viewer of this forum and has been with us since the beginning. He even posts occasionally. He used to be more active with us on past city forums.

Carl is a good friend of ours. He was on the MAPS Oversight Board for the entire life of it, and tried to fight a lot of the corruption that was going on in our city government. He knows the true story about Mr. Humphries. He'd help continue to clean up the corruption in our city government.

I think Midtowner would be proud if Carl was elected. Carl supports similar ideals as Midtowner regarding corruption.
