Comparing OKC Housing Prices Apples to Apples

I really like this annual Coldwell Banker survey because they don't go on average sales price, which is always deceiving.

They poll their realtors and use this criteria: "Subject homes are based upon a single-family dwelling model with approximately 2,200 sq.ft.*, 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, family room (or equivalent) and 2-car garage. Surveyed homes and neighborhoods are typical for corporate middle-management transferees."

You can see Tulsa & OKC are still among the most affordable markets in the U.S.:

I find it interesting that Ft. Worth and Houston are priced lower than OKC or Tulsa.

Houston is in between OKC and Tulsa. But you're right, it is interesting. Houston is a very inexpensive market with no zoning regulations whatsoever..so it's a no-brainer that it's such a high-growth place. Ironically, Dallas averages $326,425 for said house..

Arlington is also even lower than Fort Worth, even though you'd have to pay me a lot to live there.
