Thread: Fireworks Rescheduled

  1. Default Fireworks Rescheduled

Due to the weather, some of the cities decided to reschedule. Sadly, Bricktown didn't have the respect to do the same.

Bethany: Sometime Friday night (July 10th), Eldon Lyon Park, 7400 NW 39 Expressway

Moore: 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday night, fireworks at dusk, Buck Thomas Park, 1903 NE 12

Pauls Valley: Fireworks rescheduled for dusk Sunday at Wacker City Park, Park Road and N Willow.

    Shawnee: Cancelled but not rescheduled

Tuttle: 9 p.m. tomorrow at Schrock Park, 910 W Main St.

Chickasha: Dark tomorrow at Shannon Springs Park, 2500 S 9

Norman: 9:45 p.m. at Reeves Park

Riverwind Casino: Concert at 8 p.m. tomorrow and fireworks at 9 p.m. The casino had an artist scheduled to perform tonight. He is unavailable to perform tomorrow night, when they rescheduled their show, so they are replacing him with an as-yet-unnamed local band.

    .....

With all the rain, common sense was that everything be postponed until the next day. Well, it was not the case with Bricktown. As soon as I heard on the 10pm newscast that Bricktown will continue on with the show, I drove quickly toward the location. Sadly, as I had arrived, I was told it was already done. Second year in a row to do an OKCTalk Exclusive video is ruined. Last year was ruined when the battery went dead. Maybe next year.

If Bricktown had cancelled or rescheduled, I'm pretty sure, a riot would have ensued.

It was pretty crowded, and you can't just reschedule something that massive.

4th of July in Bricktown is probably a pretty big draw for out of towners, and the locals can always watch fireworks every Friday and Saturday that there is a baseball game.

The Stillwater fireworks show was delayed, not canceled, about 30 minutes to allow for the passage of a light thundershower from hearing about it on KSPI 93.7. The rain in the other places must have been more intense.

Many things are more intense elsewhere than they are in Stillwater. No rain for rain to be any different. 8^)
