Default Tower on I-40 & Cornwell

Does anyone know what that large tower on the back of a truck is at I-40 & Cornwell? It appears they are doing some kind of drilling there, but what for?

It is probably a water well drilling truck.

That's kind of what I was thinking. Could we be getting another water tower? I've had an extra $5.00 charge on my water bill for OKC water. It's been for over a year. I don't know if these are related.

Could be... then again it could be a private land owner who does not want to utilize the city water system.

I doubt it. I-40 is to the south, Cornwell to the West and 10th st to the North, and off/on ramp to I-50 to the East. I would not be surprised if the city owned that land..

Either way the truck is most like a water well drilling truck. The oil drilling/natural gas drilling towers are too large to fit on the back of a single truck.

Well they aren't really. A rig like that would be called a work over where they would just be re-entering a well to do things down hole after it has already been drilled.

it's a workover rig for the oil and gas company that operates the well. We should be finished in a few days.

It's a natural gas well. It had a whole in the casing, so it takes some time. Hopefully, we can get it back!
