I'd like to find a good website with the fire info too. I live down in Purcell and they mentioned a fire by here but won't give any more information about it on the news.

New housing additions on Hiwassee okay? I can't remember the place.

Between 15th and 29th, east side of Hiwassee.

Everything is east of us, but smell of smoke is thick. Windsong addition - SE 15th around Douglas- was hit hard. The Fire Chief said this was worst MWC fire ever.

I was in Stroud for a meeting last night - drove home when turnpike finally re-opened - Wellston looks awful. Flames were still going at 8 PM - lot of homes lost.

This is gutwrenching for me. I left OKC Thursday and I am in Germany. My stepdaughter called us at 4:30 this morning here (9:30 CST) to tell us that everything was on fire. When asked where it was, she kept saying it was everywhere. My son-in-law was over at my house rounding up the animals and getting ready to load the horses. I called my parents, they live near Choctaw High School. My dad said they were worried and ready to leave, but they weren't in serious danger yet.

I got on the internet and started looking at TV news websites. KOCO has simply the best coverage by far. KWTV is decent. On KFOR and Fox25, one wouldn't even know there is anything happening.

Both Midwest City and Choctaw have command posts situated less than two miles from my house. It is hard to get a grasp of where everything is burning. Seems like things have calmed down,maybe the crews have got infront of it.

It is now almost noon here and I am hoping to see things updated. I know KOCO starts around 5 AM.

I am pretty certain my family is safe, other than that my heart just goes out for everyone that has lost their house.

Windsong, my aunt and her husband just moved away from there last year. They had already sold the house. I didn't drive by there to check, cuz I didn't realize the area was affected.

I checked the new housing additions on Hiwassee, between 29th and 15th, east side of Hiwassee, the area is safe. Checked with my aunt and her husband, late last night, they're fine. I could see the glows blocks north of them.

How long was the turnpike closed down? I was in Tulsa all day yesterday and was totally unaware of what was happening until my wife called just before I started heading home. I drove through that area on the turnpike right around 8pm, too, and was amazed to see fires still buring on both sides.

Windsong is not affected as reported. I checked the place out and I do not see a single house burned. On the southern most side, there was a large grass fire that did went up to a house, but the house is very lucky. It went up to the side and there is another small lawn area on the other side of the house burned. The house itself is okay. The neighborhood is okay.

Just down the street, the next neighborhood, east of Westminster, the Oakwood East, has been badly affected. Houses were destroyed and some fires is still burning.

I took some pictures, but I'll have to find the USB cable for the camera.

Evidently not very long. I drove to Stroud at 4:30, arriving at about 5:15 (good tail winds!) When I went through Wellston then, it was very smoky but still able to see.

About 5:30, another person came into meeting and said toll shack operator told her TP was closing between Stroud and Wellston, both sides. Found out at 7:00 that TP was open but visibility was poor.

By the time I drove west through Wellston about 8, there were flames still visible on both sides but no smoke. There was a tree on north side that was totally engulfed in flames - pretty startling against darkening horizon.
