Thread: Big name Free Agents

  1. #1

    Question Big name Free Agents

Have any BIG NAME or Premier free agents signed with the small market teams in the past? I.e., not thru trades, or draft trades...just outright signed with these teams.

Milwaukee, Memphis, Charlotte, or New Orleans? Just curious to find out if these small market clubs affects their chances at signing big name free agents?

Just curious if you can name a few for any of these teams...I would hate to have to trade talent to get talent as that is no way to build a team!!!

I am a little worried about our ability to bring in any Big Name guys once the team is here...Would be great to get Lebron here to team with Durant and we certainly could have the money in 2010...

Doubt OKC would be able to ever land a big time free agent unless the team is a big time winner...No chance on the Kobe's and Lebron's free agency wise...We will have to just draft well to have elite players for a few years until they jump to a large market city for more dough and exposure...The good thing is small markets can actually be successful in the NBA (New Orleans, Utah, San Antonio)

Hopefully we can land a Tim Duncan like player who is fine with playing his entire career in a small market...Not likely but we can hope

    Kevin Durant

Right now, very few teams, small or large market, have any space under the expected $59 million salary cap. Then again, there aren't a lot of high-buck free agents as yet: the highest would probably have been Gilbert Arenas, and the Wizards are keen to keep Agent Zero and damn the cost.

I wouldn't count on it but ya never know...I see him heading back east as soon as his contract is up
