Isn't this an annual thing with Dell? I know a few people myself that have been laid off there. It definitely seems like a temporary job type of place.

The last group was consumer sales, which made sense with the consumer market coming to a crawl and the big push into retail. It would be interesting to see which department these 54 were in.

People on this board seem to forget who all works there...its not just a bunch of phone monkies taking consumer orders. From the sales side you have small business, Mid Market/Medium Business, Resellers, Large Ops, Large Corps, Telecom, Networking, Enterprise, and Imaging. Then you get on the tech side, the basic phone operators, and several other departments.

Those in the last big round of lay offs were those making about $25-35K a year. I had spent a couple years there myself...but for my department, the average income was around $55-100K a year.
