Free City Trout Clinic set for January 26

Metro area anglers will be able to hone their fishing skills at a free trout clinic on January 26. The clinic will take place from 7 – 8:30 p.m. at the Putnam City High School Gymnasium, located at NW 50 and Ann Arbor.

Hands-on seminars will include casting, knot tying and trout cleaning. Local fishing experts and educators will also be on hand to teach anglers the latest in trout fishing tips and techniques, as well as fish identification and sportsmanship. A Q&A session at the end of the event will give anglers a chance to ask general fishing questions.

“This is a great event for the entire family,” said Bob Martin, fisheries biologist with the City’s Parks and Recreation Department. “We’ll have all sorts of activities for our anglers, young and old, and it’s a valuable way to educate our anglers on trout fishing at Dolese Youth Park Pond.”

Equipment is not necessary to participate in the clinic, but pre-registration is required by calling (405) 755-4014.

The clinic is hosted by the City of Oklahoma City and the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, as part of the City’s annual Trout Season. Over 10,000 trout will be stocked throughout the season, which runs through February 28 on Dolese Youth Park Pond. The City’s annual trout season is part of the Close to Home fishing program.
