Just being who he is and what he stands for would be a big change for OKC. Like Ed said, he'd try to make city government reflect the actual diversity of the town. OKC doesn't really have representative government.
We already know the bus system is a joke and should be fixed. I don't think many here disagree with that at all. What we do disagree with is how he is wanting to change it. He is wanting to syphon funds from other MAPS3 projects that the people voted for and use them for the bus system. Of course, even if he did become Mayor, he would need a majority vote to make that happen and he only has himself, Grenier and White on his side and has to find two more. From the streetcar debate I saw, I don't think Meg, Larry, David, Patrick or John will agree with him. So, he will just be a the mayor without any power because he voted against every chance he gets.

Of the sitting council members, which two wards face the potential of having opponents in the upcoming spring election?
Are they in districts which previously went well for the incumbent mayor?
Do the respective districts presently seem stronger in support for the incumbent or the one known mayoral challenger?

What happens on the horseshoe post-election, irrespective of the mayoral race, if the present makeup of the council shifts and two more folks have a take another look perspective instead of a stay the course perspective?

FWIW, apathy has many implications, going well beyond who becomes mayor.

Elections for Wards 2 (Shadid), 5 (Greenwell), 6 (Salyer) and 8 (Ryan) will be in Spring 2015.

So if Shadid gets in and if his machine can get someone else into the Ward 2 seat for the rest of his term, we'd still be looking at 5-4 votes against the Mayor on most issues for the first year. Increase the number of wards and the Shadid machine gets further people in and things could get interesting.

I don't think Pearls has even been around very long ? Not long enough to be an institution anyways....

So when was your 60 year old friend going to Pearls ? When he was 50 ......

My bad. My outsider brain hadn't realized/remembered no council seats were up this spring.

25 years or so, IIRC? Not sure if that qualifies as an institution, but it's more than 10 years.

25 years is nothing. It's just more inuendo and BS from the ES camp....

Yeah, but you posed some important questions. People need to be thinking about the full implications and how their game plan could play out. You can be very sure they are.

He's stated doesn't want to divert money from any MAPSIII projects. Think he just wants to do it right and return it to a vote of the people when it's not part of a logroll. face it, MAPSII schemed behind closed doors by a few and wasn't ready for prime time, an insult to the MAPS legacy.

Return what to the vote of the people? We already voted on it once?

If people didn't want the MAPS projects as a group, all they had to do was vote "no". The majority chose not to vote "no". The city did polling prior to the MAPS vote to see what people wanted. Did you forget to fill out the poll? You don't get to revote until you get the answer you want. That's a waste of city funds if anything is, not projects that people can actually use and enjoy.

Also, I assume you mean you want every single MAPS project re-voted upon. Again, you can't pick and choose the particular ones you want to keep and move forward with the ones you like. How do you sort out what to do with the money already collected? MAPS III is almost half done. I suppose Ed thinks he should be able to decide. Because if he is counting on the voters not passing the streetcar if voted on individually, I can guarantee you a revamped bus system will fare far worse.

Ed isn't scheming behind closed doors himself???? It's not fine if others do it, but it's OK if he does? Hypocritical is what I call it.

I think you've likely done the reverse. I have yet to hear a single reasonable point you've made in Ed's favor. You ignore every question and post platitudes without substance. And Ed's behavior is turning away people who voted for him for city council.

And we know he's lying his ass off. And I think Ed shouldn't be the only one under scrutiny for their duplicity. Pete White, who is scheming to undermine the voters by getting more sympathetic anti-MAPS councilmen on the horseshoe, deserves to have an enforced retirement courtesy of the voters.

I will be working VERY HARD to get Greiner, Shadid and White ousted.

I'm going to let y'all know. I'm slowly laying the groundwork. If someone with better backing emerges, I'll support them, but someone needs to get that idiot out of office.

I only wish I still lived in the OKC area so I could actively support you. As it is, I'll just have to do it on here.

From now on everyone should only respond to Edgar with the questions he refuses to answer. He is a troll, doesn't have an answer, and is only here to annoy everyone. Responding to his idiotic, random, and generally inaccurate statements is a waste of everyone's time.

    Something like this from Bellaboo:

Your sole purpose is being a troll...... when are you going to answer what ES is going to do if elected ? I know he's made a few wild azz claims (like he'd have the power to pull things off as the mayor), but I want to hear it from you ???

Good call and I am one that constantly questions him because I hate uninformed people and I consider him really uninformed. I will do my best to constantly ask what ES will do once he becomes Mayor.

I'd like to know what innovative ideas (and not the old standby lets have better bus shelters - that's been around for years) that ES has come up with and pushed through as a councilman ?

The polling, that brings up an interesting question Betts. Should MAPSIII projects been addressed in order of decreasing popularity? The cc polled 20%-25%, something abysmal like that.
