I got promoted recently, so I spend a lot of time on the Starbucks patio. Last week I overheard one contractor mention to another that he should have started building that day to meet the hospital's projected Dec 2014 finish date.

Interesting. I'm surprised they still haven't started. The relocation of utilities is taking forever, and who knows if that's the only holdup. I don't think there's any chance that they meet that deadline unless they start by mid-July at the latest. There's just too much to be done.

One guy was talking about how he was dreading when they start working on 10th & Walker.

Talked to one of the guys high up in our mechanical dept and he said the hold up was from OG&E and the City. Work on the 'pavillion' should begin by the end of the year.

Note from the City of OKC:

Walker between NW 8th and NW 10th will close to traffic starting Monday, August 19.
The closure is anticipated to last for several months while crews install utilities for Saint Anthony Hospital.

The surface lots are getting close to being done. I've noticed a lot of guys in hard hats walking around and pointing over on our drive at the East Entrance.

I'm not sure this project was ever a large increase in jobs, I know that aspect was never really lauded and you have to think it would be.

I drove by this area today and there's a building right in the middle of their new parking lot that's to the south of the current Physician's Building. It had a sign on it that said "the Century" I think. Why did they leave it standing? Are there plans for the building?

They don't own it. It is hotel by the week/month kind of place

They couldn't have bought it out? It looks rundown and more than a little seedy.

Yeah, hopefully someone with a little vision gets control of that place. It is a great little example of Art Deco that obviously isn't being well-maintained. With a little TLC and refurb it would make a great office building or some awfully cool and high-end residences.
