Thread: New Cars and Trucks Thread

Will be posting quite a bit soon including the new 2015 Genesis. Maybach is kind of making a comeback but not through a standalone brand, just as an optional model of the Mercedes S-Class. Never really cared for Maybach except for the Landaulet, that car was awesome!

Maybach isn't a car you drive, it is a car you get driven in. The worst seat in a Maybach is the drivers seat.

Tonight I will post about that and a bunch of other cars.

Toyota's FT-1 (new Supra) utilizes same dashboard setup as a translucent gauge in front of you. (Also uses LCD screen integrated into top of steering wheel)

Have you seen the Bronco concept?

The one back in like 2005 I think? It was awesome. If there is new one, I haven't heard about it, but would like to!

This was about the same time they had the Super Chief Concept

Wow, suicide doors, haven't seen those in a while. Of course, I don't get out a lot so they may be more common than I realize.

The new Colorado and Canyon look REALLY nice too. And IT'S ABOUT TIME SOMEBODY PUT A SMALL DIESEL INTO A MIDSIZED PICKUP.

I'm so excited for that. I may go oil-burning-smaller-truck on my next truck purchase (4 years or so).

Ford has debuted an aluminum F-150. It's a 2015 model and will be available later this year. They said they shaved 700 pounds off of the truck by using aluminum. Aluminum is more expensive than steel and body shops are still new to working with it, but this could be a game changer.

Plupan. I saw a news article this morning on Yahoo! about a new muscle car at the Detroit Auto Show: The Equus Bass Check it out when you can!

    That's a 250 thousand dollar almost-Mustang with a GM engine, isn't it?

How many buses/trains/bicycles/sidewalks could be bought for that. (my, my, tsk, tsk =)

Eh...I'm I car guy. That argument won't convince me. lol

Being an overpriced and ugly car? That'll make me steer clear of it.

It's just an LS9 and a LOT of stuff out of GM and Ford's parts bins. I mean...For 250 grand I want a bit more than headlights and HVAC knobs and headlights from a Camaro and a steering wheel from a Mustang (I wish I was making all this up).

You can buy a twin turbo Lamborghini with 1,000 horsepower for 225 grand, then spend the leftover 25k on an actual Mustang Fastback with a nice 351 in it...And call it a day.

Saw the new redesigned GMC Yukon at the home and garden show today. They said it would be available late February with the denali and XL available in March. The Tahoe and escalades were likely late March also. Good looking truck. My wife has already picked out the color she wants. They said the price went up about 3k over last year's model.

Just looked them up and if it's what the pics are I'm not impressed with the Yukon. Of course I don't really like the new Sierra's that's why I went ahead and bought the 2013. Now the Silverado's are growing on me, and if the pic of the Tahoe is basically the same thing as the Silverado, then I'm sold on it.

2014 Z-28 sold at Barrett Jackson for 600k , 2014 Mustang sold for 300k. Both number one off the lines

Oh man...I like this truck more and more every time I see a picture of it. The fact that I'll be able to buy one with a diesel (and maybe even a manual transmission to boot!) is like icing on the cake. Over 30 mpg in a mid-sized pickup with a nice interior and a WAY outside its class tow rating?

SIGN ME THE HELL UP. I'm tired of driving giant trucks for the couple of times a year I need to tow.

The Toyota Tacoma hasn't been redesigned in waaaay too long, and it only gets about 1-2 mpg better than the giant Tundra...I would hope they have something better coming down the road in the near future.

But it'll be tough for them...This is a good looking truck and people are loving it before it's even hit showroom floors. That's something GM needs.

I wonder if that'll prompt Ford to get back in to the mid-sized pick up market.

What's the towing capacity on that? Also that picture makes it look a lot bigger than it is. Still not big on the new GMC look, I think the Colorado looks better IMO. Not sure if it's getting the diesel as well, that would be a big selling point.

  22. Default Re: New Cars and Trucks Thread

Yeah, probably a smidge bigger than a Tacoma. Not small really. But as a current driver of a full size crew cab truck, it's comparatively tiny lol.

Diesel will be available in 2016 models...both Colorado and Canyon. Towing capacity is just shy of 7k for the gassers, diesel should be a bit higher.

I considered a Tacoma before I got my Sierra, but honestly the negative stigma of driving one plus that fact is was just a bit smaller than I thought it should be left me opting for the larger truck.

What is the negative stigma of driving a Tacoma?

This is big truck country. My best friend drives one, nice truck, but everytime we go somewhere he gets ripped for driving a baby truck. That's a tough perception to beat. I have a pontoon boat and it's not heavy by any means, 1800lbs, and not overly long, but I passed on the Tacoma because I thought it would look like a tiny little under powered truck pulling it. Honestly I still don't know if the Tacoma was heavy enough to keep the boat from swaying a bunch when it's windy.
