I think Lackmeyer even covered it. Some of you guys should ask him about that during his chat tomorrow.

I'll bet Kaisers is thrilled to have that big ole cooling tower right next to them. Those can be plenty noisy. Maybe they are trying to be irritating enough to get them to sell. And, by where they positioned it, it could be noise pollution for the immediate area and any outdoor seating. The noise will likely be line of sight to 1212. Hope they have some noise suppression on it.

Well, since I was born in St. Anthony's in 1943 and fully expect to die there full circle on one day or another, I could expect nothing less of St. Anthony's than a fine project such as this.

This is pretty awesome! You can find me Monday thru Friday Holding down the Valet stand at the West Entrance. Doug, I was born there too!

Well, that's totally cool, edcrunk. We are clearly soulmates. Except that my final pass there will likely be much earlier than yours, and on the south end, at the ER entrance! Just kidding ... kinda sorta. Frankly, the fact that I was born there, and have a good probability of dying there (my home is only a few blocks north), whenever that may occur, gives me a measure of peace ... good karma, one might say, even if I hope that moment of convergence is at least a few years yet to come.

Doug, I think I speak for everyone on here who knows you that I hope that is a ways off. On a side note, my grandpa recently went full circle as you might say at St. Anthony's, and even though it was incredibly sad for us, the care he got was excellent..far better than any other place he'd been. Apparently I'm the first generation in our family to not be born there. Damn these exclusive clubs and all... :P

Were the plans for this addition approved at today's meeting?

The meeting isn't until Dec. 20th.

The preliminary recommendation from the planning department is to approve, with just a few qualifications.

Thanks, Pete. I have no idea why I thought the meeting was this morning. Whoops.

    What were the qualifications?

The only issue was they want more signs than stipulated in the design guidelines, but the planning department recommended a variance be provided.

Was driving through Midtown this evening imagining this project built. Safe to say this project will add a lot of much needed density to Midtown.

Amazing!! Looking a lot different than when I began my medical career there (1959). The only parts that I recognize from that period is the "U" shaped construction with a semi-circular drive between the main hospital and the then, student nurses building.

Did you know a pediatrician named Charles Freeman?

Did they get the dumpster situation sorted with Kaiser's to get this project approved?

    okcBIZ article on this:

okcBIZ: News: Development - Patron Saints

Joe Hodges, regional president for SSM Healthcare, the owner of St. Anthony, says the expansion is the largest in the hospital’s history.
In the last decade, after deciding to remain in MidTown rather than moving to the suburbs, he says the hospital has invested more than $200 million at that site.
Pretty much about the same info as in the newsok article, but that's a nice rendering above.

St. Anthony is also building a healthplex in Mustang.

St. Anthony Healthplex Mustang will include a full-service emergency room, diagnostic imaging, procedural suites and a breast center.
The second floor will house the St. Anthony Physicians Group primary-care and specialist physicians.
That's a fantastic addition to Mustang.

Does anyone know what the work is that's going on to the south of St. Anthony's? It's the lot south of 9th St along Walker, just south of the physician office building. I've heard conflicting stories about what's going on here.

Is the project's viability now in question? Or just a case of hurry up and wait?

Upward Transitions is now officially out of their old building and into their new space on Main.

They have to complete the new parking lot before they can start work on this site.

That is part of this project and it IS underway.

That's where they used to have a gravel lot south of the Starbucks?

I don't understand how just suddenly upgrading the pavement quality allows a redevelopment of surface parking elsewhere to move forward, but such is life in 2013 I suppose.

Utility companies are relocating lines right now- that's the construction on 9th street.
