I'm always glad to hear about good things happening at St Anthony. I have lots of memories of there. And I was born there which I obviously don't remember.
For a few decades, St. Anthony was just about the only thing in Midtown.
It's really hard to believe, but even Plaza Court was shuttered as was 95% of the rest of the properties.
St. Anthony is taking a step toward creating the grand new west entrance.
They have filed plans to create ingress and egress on NW 9th from their main parking garage. Currently, the primary garage access is on Lee which will be closed as part of their master plan.
Not that I usually have a soft spot for parking garages, but having spent a lot of time in that one over the past few years it really is one of my favorites in town due to the faded late mid-century vibe. It's also very easy to navigate and to transition between floors. The area shown for that entrance is where the ramps are; hopefully they will be able to generally retain those ramps and their usefulness.
from the last image, looks like they need to start constructing new garage(s).

Meh, the surface parkers are just avoiding parking in garages because they think it's easier to surface park or they don't even know the garages are available. Like I mentioned, I've been at SSM a tremendous amount over the past few years, since I have centered all of my specialists there (as an old, fat guy I have plenty of them) , plus my elderly mother has had a number of health issues in the years since she moved back down here. In all of the times I have been there, day and night, there is always ample parking in the existing garages, plus the uncontrolled Pasteur Building garage across 10th.
Plans have been filed with the Downtown Design Review Committee for approval.
Some slight changes from the renderings I posted previously, but otherwise the project is moving forward pretty much as planned.
Thank you for the update, Pete! Is there a timeline on the GI building?
Love the new grand entrance but hate that it's creating a new superblock addition to the campus. I wish it could be built while maintaining the street, or better yet, do a smaller build on Lee but make the other side facing Shartel as the grand entrance with it's already existing superblock to play with.
Anyway - nice to see SA continuing to expand, modernize, and build up in Midtown.

This is sure getting me excited about my next colonoscopy.
lol. They are turning the backdoor into the front door.

I mean, it’s historically the front entrance of the hospital, which has been repeatedly reoriented over the decades. I personally recall at least three very different emergency room entrances over the years at Saint Anthony. It’s a pretty common method for expansion and updates. This one makes a ton of sense, as that is by far the easiest parking garage associated with the hospital, and getting from the garage to the hospital ain’t great, in its current configuration.
