Thread: Iron Star

  1. Default Re: Iron Starr

Just a guess: they probably got tired of folks mistakenly assuming that Wade Starr was involved, especially in light of his recent bad press. Easy change, and actually feels more authentic and less gimmicky, anyway.

with iron star in there, they might as well change it to the saab or audi center
Personally, I'm thrilled Iron Star will be there! Consistently excellent food.

We have been going through a slight rebrand of the concept. More urban/industrial and less country. Pop in and take a look...new ceiling tile, bar redo, new tables, new chairs on their way and several other upgrades. The sign will be last. Glad someone noticed!

Ha! Not the case, but good guess. If we ever get tired of something, hopefully we don't wait 12 years to make a change. We try to upgrade our restaurants and make small changes to the interior every 8-9 years.

Cool. Glad you weighed in. Also, I've been in a number of times recently, and I agree that the place looks/tastes better than ever.

Interesting. I've been there a couple of times and it already felt less "country" than the typical BBQ restaurant. I should get back there soon to check out the changes.

Great to hear! Iron Star is always a favorite of mine, will have to check it out soon.

Did you add an iron star? I always found the lack thereof to be strange.

I'll have to come in to find out!

Started noticing some changes a few months ago: good looking new logo on the menus and shirts, and noticed the new tables last Sunday. I didn't notice the spelling changed (I never noticed it was "Starr").

The food has always been consistently good. I usually stick to the chicken and pork, but even the brisket has been good the last few times my wife has ordered it.

Ah, that explains it, we went there to use a gift card that they sent to us after a bad experience, and were a bit less than thrilled (and no, not posting this to get another gift card ). Quail breast apps didn't have enough glaze or "salad" with them, didn't get served cornbread with our entrees, and maybe a couple of other minor things, but service was better than it had been and the food still *tasted* good, just seemed like it had started to "cheap out" with less portions, less quality, etc. Glad the Coop Gran Sport Porter was back on tap, though. We'll still go back, but not for a while...

Finally had this since the 'remodel' and it was fantastic. Went with a group of 8 without a reservation and they were very accommodating.

Service was great, had a younger server too - he knew what he was doing. Food was good, sampled all the meats on platter, then chose the smoked turkey and the sausage trio. Meats were all very flavorful. Baked beans and Mac and Cheese were my sides. I must say the mac and cheese is pretty lackluster, but not bad.

Overall good experience and will be returning more often.

The mac & cheese tastes like it's gotten greasier over the years... used to be a go-to, now we usually don't order it. Only complaint I have.

Hate to hear that.... I haven't been there in several years but I remember the mac and cheese being one thing I really enjoyed.

I went last Sunday for dinner after the Marathon and it had been a couple years since I'd been... It was so good. One of the best meals I've had recently. I had a brisket sandwich with fancy mac. It's back in rotation for me.

Was there that night too. Consistently one of the best meals in town. Still wish they didn't drop the second R...

Saw there's $12 rack of ribs M-Tr with your keep it local card this month

Went last night and the brisket was like eating rubber. Perhaps I've had too much good brisket and know what it should taste like. I couldn't pull the brisket apart at all.

The drinks were great but this is no longer a good BBQ restaurant
