Thread: Fassler Hall / Dust Bowl

  1. Default Re: Fassler Hall / Dust Bowl

Just from personal experience, I think of myself to have a pretty good tolerance when it comes to beer and drinking. That being said, I thought I was a tough guy and ordered two of their big beers (mainly because I didn't want to stand in line again) and I barely finished the first one before I had to split up the second one because I was nice and toasty.

I have learned to pay attention to ABV. Some of the beers are 8% or higher while others are 5% or below. It makes a big difference when it comes to how tipsy you get and how fast.

    Yeah...A liter is about 34 ounces...Almost 3 beers. That's a lot to drink in a public setting...6 beers...well hope.you're there for at least 3 hours.

In fact some random guy bought me a beer for giving up my seat to his GF at the bar. But it did strike me nonetheless. IDK if the open, casual nature of that place makes bartenders more susceptible to overserving people.

In any event, OKC's nightlife has a bit of a bro-ish quality to it. Not that it bothers me. I'd take bros over pretentious yuppies any time, but that crowd seems to be a little more willing to throw down after a few if someone or something disrespects them.
This. I have only been to Fassler Hall once, and I thought the crowd was decidedly unhip and rating fairly high on the douche scale.

Skyy Bar people had to go somewhere to get plastered.

Maybe I'm out of the loop but I guess I'm not understanding the difference between bro, yuppie, and hip?

Because all of my best friends from college frequent Fassler so I'm guessing they're all douchey bros? News to me.

Bro, yuppie & hip = douchy, smug and annoying.

But aren't these the people that are making Midtown the place to be these days....

The place to be is relative, there are plenty of other buzzy places in OKC that aren't midtown. People partying in midtown right now are the ones who typically have a higher expandable income, come from more affluent families. Rich people tend to think they are cooler than everybody else, so that makes it "the place to be". I'm just a random though, so my opinion probably doesn't matter.

You said so yourself all your friends were greeks, you have to realize that there are stereotypes in that segment. Of course not all stereotypes are true for all people in a segment, but more times than not stereotypes are deserved.

I was just joking, of course. Just trying to translate the stereotypes.

I just like to see people in OKC out, interacting and having a good time, particularly in the urban core.

Man, my bashing on greeks last week was almost prophetic...

I stopped by Fassler and Bleu Garten for a bit this weekend and I can't understate what great community gathering places both of these establishments are... Both were so incredibly packed. It is amazing how many people both places hold...

Right, between those two places alone they are drawing thousands over the weekend.

Yes it is drawing a ton. Them, and along with Bleu Garten and the other small places in Midtown had all grass lots north of 10th filled with cars Sat night. Dare I say that there might be a parking problem...

All the more reason to get that streetcar in I suppose. Maybe they'll agree to scoot it up, what with having that oh crap, whadda mean we can't afford that patch of asphalt for the cc problem that snuck up on them like a knife toting ner do well in a teen slasher pic. Everyone else saw him coming, everyone except the ones destined to be the newest members of club slash and bash.

So weird they haven't charged the two who assaulted that guy yet. The police have had their identity ever since the video aired. Both are from well connected and well known families in the city. I check OSCN each day and still no charges.

That is hilarious. Obviously you don't have to answer this, but in case you feel up to it, is there any reason why? I'm sure you've enjoyed seeing my record of speeding and traffic tickets.

plupan, that is a topic that is better left to a pm instead of going off topic here.

yeah, that's probably true. There is a reason why I did what I did though. But you're right.

    Plu - grow up already.

If you can't understand why I (and others should) find it odd these rich brats haven't been charged then I can't help you out.

It was leading news for a day or two. Police released footage 'hoping to identify the culprits.' However, once they realized who they were the kids of (within hours of releasing the footage), now, nothing.

I don't see any problem with tracking it. It was a very public crime.

I'm sure the family settled with the victim outside of court/law to not press any charges. Just more spoiled brats who think they can get away with anything, and stuff like this proves they are mostly right.

OCPD is telling the media 'its still under investigation.' But admit they have identified their suspects. Its always odd how Oklahoma County 'justice' works. Some people are able to 'negotiate' a settlement and avoid criminal charges while others would be charged with witness tampering, obstruction, etc. if they tried to reach a monetary settlement.

If you have the funds and the victim agrees, I see nothing wrong with settling out of court.
