I don't think it ever leaves. Or at least I assume someone with one is based in south OKC. I see it on a regular basis on SE 44th.

It would make sense for a car to be stationed in most major cities. With the many thousands of miles of streets and highway that OKC offers, I'll bet it is dificult to drive the whole city in a year, even with full time effort.

Funny you say that. I check for updated 'street' views' along Robinson to see who got captured by the Google car and addresses I know to be high volume drug houses, gambling houses and local brothels.

For whatever reason, Street View in OKC is updated much more regularly than where I live.

Google also updates the aerials in Oklahoma pretty frequently as well.

When Google first rolled out their 45 degree imagery, OKC was the only city not on the west coast to have this imagery for quite some time.

Somebody told me about a year ago that the street view cars don't "return" to OKC, they are always in OKC and surrounding areas. These cars are actually based here and Google has several employees here. Maybe somebody else can give a little more information?

Where is Street View?

That backpack camera does not look light weight. It will be cool when they can use drones to go down into cayons and up building. Real 3-D view.

I haven't necessarily 'heard' that but I do recall a job posting by Google a few years ago that implied you'd be based in your home state in a major city.
