Default Garth Brooks touring again in 2014....

Garth Brooks to embark on world tour after more than 10 years - NY Daily News

American country singer Garth Brooks, the top-selling recording artist of the last 20 years, on Monday said he would return to touring after more than a decade off the road.

This is great news because if there is something we need its more horrid watered down pop/country music.

Then why did so many people buy Garth Brook's music? Because they were totally clueless when it come to knowing what good music is really supposed to be about?

You got me on that one......I have no clue why he sold as many albums as he did. Beiber and Lady Gaga sell albums by the boatload as well it still dosnt mean they are musically viable. I myself prefer "old school" country which to me is pre early 80s not this pop glossed over stuff disguised as country music with a fiddle solo thrown in for credibility.

When did we start not liking Garth Brooks?

Jeez...I can't keep up with internet denizens and their "STOP LIKING WHAT I DON'T LIKE" disdain of the week.

Please remind me, Garth is the Oklahoma Country singer that did NOT sing / participate in our 100 year Centennial Celebration....correct? Yeah, that's right. He's back? ...who cares.

I remember Vince, Reba, Toby, Carrie, Blake, ( Amy Grant , new-okie. ) , but NOT Garth.

That sure was a great song by Vince, "Oklahoma Risin". Thanks Vince.

I usually hate country music, but Garth is the one exception. I'm happy he is touring again with full band and I hope I can snag some tickets!

...this time around you won't have any problem.

I'm not really a Garth fan but I appreciate the exposure he gave to Chris LeDoux's music.

I don't think one of the best-selling artist of all time is going to have any trouble selling tickets to his concert.

Yup. Same reason people buy Taylor Swift's garbage.

    FYI for the haters.

“When the Centennial Commission invited Oklahoma performers to participate in the Centennial Spectacular, they eagerly accepted and volunteered their time and talent. This was nearly two years ago when Garth had chosen to take time off to spend time with his family. Therefore, a special role was created for Garth to honor Oklahomans who were affected by the Murrah Building tragedy on April 19, 1995. Even then, he graciously volunteered to fulfill this heartfelt segment in the program with no compensation because he wanted to show his love for Oklahoma. He presented this powerful segment of the program with extraordinary grace, dignity and compassion,” according to the statement.

“Oklahoma is fortunate to have so many talented sons and daughters who are immensely generous and donated their time and talents to commemorate Oklahoma’s 100th anniversary of statehood.”

Jeanie McCain Edney, the commission’s deputy director, said by the time Brooks began performing again, the program for the spectacular was already locked.

“The spectacular was already scripted, it was timed for telecast, everything had been set. ... We were already extremely, extremely tight on timing, and had trimmed and edited and so forth. So it was impossible to put a number in. Totally impossible,” Edney said, noting the show still ran 20 minutes over the planned two-hour length.

Brooks was the only musician in the extensive, cross-genre lineup who did not perform. The other country music stars identified as headliners — McEntire, Toby Keith, Carrie Underwood and Vince Gill — played at least one of their songs.

“He was contributing in a very significant and special way to the performance, so we wanted to include him among the performers and we regret if people misunderstood that,” Edney said. “He was willing to take on this role and speak about one of the most momentous and tragic events in the history of our state, (which) we felt deserved recognition. And we are certainly sorry if people were disappointed in that representation. It most certainly should not reflect on Garth.”

At the spectacular’s pre-show press conference, Brooks wowed Underwood, who has called him one of her idols, when he entered in the final few moments. He said it was great to be a part of the event.

He said he loved the sincerity, pride and respectfulness of Oklahomans.

“There’s something about Oklahoma. It’s the land of common sense for me, which I love. You guys have got the best state motto of anybody: Labor conquers all. Shut your mouth, roll your sleeves up and go to work. That’s what we love,” he said.

I don't have a problem with Garth, not much of a problem with Taylor for that matter. If the pop business is so jammed packed with talent that a few pop folks need to slap on a pair of boots and/or a hat and play their pop music to country fans, I think it speaks very highly of country fans to reach out and help them live their dreams. And help them we did. We're just friendly like that. Shoot, we even semi-sorta adopted Kid Rock and the ever so lovely and sweet voiced Sheryl Crow.

Mr. Yearwood is welcome to play on my radio, and I wish his lovely would invite us for dinner sometime. I've seen her show and I think she cooks as well as she sings, and Trisha can sing.

He's no Merle Haggard or Johnny Cash... But he has been great for the State and Wal-Mart.

absolutely, it works for me. I was close to not liking him much anyway, and this gave me that extra reason to put him in the category of "Garth Brooks = Les Miles".

Garth was TOO busy in retirement. Yes, ALL the other Full Time / Big Time Country Stars took time out of their busy schedules to make this happen. Again, Thank you Vince / Reba / Toby / Carrie / Blake.

It ain't as if Garth never said, "I got friends in low places . . ."
(Personally, I think he's going back on the road again because he's tired of Trisha's To-Do Lists)
